Find the equation of the line through points (3, 5) and (8, 15). Write the answer in standard form using only integers.

My Answer:

(15-5)/(8-3)

10/5=2
m=2
y=2x+b
15=2(8)+b
15=16+b
-1=b
y=2x-1

slope = (15-5)/(8-3)=2
y intercept = 0

Teacher comments:
Sorry, but I cannot tell what your answer is. It should be an EQUATION but you have given the slope and then the y intercept in different font colors. This is not what you were asked for. Also, minus 1 for no solution checking of the two given points in your eqation.

A water main.

Water is cruising through it in a real big hurry.

Is that not creating a vacuum / 'negative pressure' that pulls the inside of the pipe toward the water that is rushing over its surface ?

Potentially odd but related thought:

If such a pipe were 'rifled' would the fluid build and maintain angular momentum ?

If so, would that not be a centrifugal force pushing against the inner walls of the pipe ?

Find the equation of the line through (1, 4) with slope ¼. Write the answer in slope-intercept form

My Answer:
y=m(x-k)+h

y= ¼ (x-1) + 4

Slope intercept
y= 1/4x –1/4 + 4 = 1/4x + 15/4

teacher comment:Great, except 1/4x means 1 divided by 4x and that is incorrect. Minus 1.
Minus 1 for no solution checks. You must check at least the given point.

Can anyone out there help me? Answer this question for me I know it has something to do ratio. Something like 7/52 and 1/364. The answer is 3 cents but I need to show the work.

?) Monika's car travels 7km on 1L of gas. She filled her gas tank with 52 L of gas for $28.60. Approximately, how much does it cost her to drive 1km.

There are no tricks it's just a straight forward answer. I know the first step. First you have to multiply seven by 52. Then use the ratios: 7/52 and 1/364. I think you either add, subtract, multiply or etc the ratios to get the answer.
