Can anyone out there help me? Answer this question for me I know it has something to do ratio. Something like 7/52 and 1/364. The answer is 3 cents but I need to show the work.

?) Monika's car travels 7km on 1L of gas. She filled her gas tank with 52 L of gas for $28.60. Approximately, how much does it cost her to drive 1km.

There are no tricks it's just a straight forward answer. I know the first step. First you have to multiply seven by 52. Then use the ratios: 7/52 and 1/364. I think you either add, subtract, multiply or etc the ratios to get the answer.

Cost of gas: 28.60 for 52 L gasoline (given in question)
Can travel 7Km on 1L gasoline (also given in question)

Can travel 364Km on 52L gasoline (found out by cross multiplying 7 over 1 and 364 over 52)

8 cents (found out by cross multiplying 52 over 28.60 and 1 over ?)

Is the answer of 3 cents "your" answer or the "text's" answer? I and another person both keep coming up with 8 cents.

The text says that for 1L Monika can drive for 7 km ( 1L = 7 km)
Also, it costs $ 28.60 for 52 L ( 52 L = $28.60 or $0.55 = L or 55 cent = L)
Solve the equation, (55 cent/1L)*( 1L/ 7km) = 55cent / 7 km = 7.86 cent/1km

It costs 7.86 cent to drive 1 km.

I don't think it's 3 cents. That would have to be $52 for 28.6L of gas, not the other way around.

As is, $28.60/52L= 55 cents a liter
.55/7=.0785 or round up to 8 cents a km

7x52 = 364 km =52L
then what u do is u have t find out the cost of 1L which 28.60 divide by 52 and u should get 0.55 or 55cents, the cost of 1L

Let's see how much it costs per Litre of gas.

$28.80 / 52 = $0.5538 / L ( wow, that is really cheap gas!)

Anyway,

She travels 7 km / L, so in 1 km she uses 1/7 of a Litre.

1/7 of $0.5538 = $0.0791

Therefore it costs her about 8 cents per kilometre.

0.55/ 7km= 0.08 cents per km traveled

it cost approx. .55 cent to travel 1 km-----you take $28.60 and divide it by 52L and you get .55 cents and to double check multiply 52L by .55 cents and the answer comes out to $28.60..
