The sum of two consecutive integers is 6,867. What are the integers?


3,433 + 3,434 = 6,867


I just did it all in my head because it's the way I think. I am horrible when it comes to translating word problems into equations though (hence my other question).

Before you rant about how I should consult my text book, saxon doesn't teach one how to think intuitively. :) Word problems can vary so much..

This question has been in my head for a very long time. Unless somebody knows for a fact, I think the issue can be debated because we are, after all, just another animal. But then again, perhaps through generations of being cultured, we no longer need to rely on innate knowledge on the matter. I dont know the answer, so please discuss.
