This question has been in my head for a very long time. Unless somebody knows for a fact, I think the issue can be debated because we are, after all, just another animal. But then again, perhaps through generations of being cultured, we no longer need to rely on innate knowledge on the matter. I dont know the answer, so please discuss.

Thank You

It would be like an itch, that they didn't know how to scratch.
I'm sure they would figure something out to make it feel better, but I don't know if their method would produce any children.

Yes it is a strong instinct that every animal has, and we are an animal. An uninstructed pair of humans might not get it right the first time they try to do it, but eventually they will, thus continuing the human race.

If you think about it, why wouldn't someone who hasn't been instructed be able to figure it out. Small children, I mean like 1 or 2 years old, to the horror of their parents will often touch their private parts because they are curious and it feels good to them. So if we are all doing that at that young an age, doesn't it stand to reason that when we hit puberty we would naturally figure out what else felt good with other people.

The answer is: Yes

Sexual behavior is controled by genes. Also, it is controled by a brain regions that are primitive

Mating, like feeding, takes place under a combination of nervous and hormonal control. Much of this control is mediated by parts of the nervous system within the "visceral brain", which is phylogenetically the oldest part of the human brain. It is comprised by a group of structures located in the inferior part of the forebrain and around it, called the hypothalamus, the hypophysis and the limbic system as well as the mesencephalon (the midbrain).

There have actually been fairly recent case studies of humans who have been isolated in various ways, and never had any sex education, social tutoring, or any other training. They had no problem figuring out how to have sex with another human! Knowing how to have sex wasn't the problem, the problem in most of these cases was that they didn't know any of the modern social restrictions we have put around sex and mating, and so they'd grab any member of the opposite sex and want to go at it. Instinct is a powerful thing, and the urge to reproduce our most powerful instinct...

Wasn't that the premise of that stupid movie The Island? Nobody had sex and they were forbidden to even get close to each other...but they figured it out anyway. Sex is all-natural, and humans have trouble *not* having sex when presented with the right circumstances. Humans are incredibly inquisitive and would experiment until they figured something out. We are animals, after all--the biological imperative impels us to mate, and it's actually not all that hard to figure out.

Of course, didn't you watch 'The Blue Lagoon'?! But seriously, I think the population would have become extinct a long time ago if people couldn't figure it out!

of course otherwise we'd all be dead by now. of course it's innate. it might take a while though (like by age 30 or something unlike kids that are 13 now that see sex on tv or whatever & don't even know what they are talking 'bout)

Interesting question. Experimentally; not shown as I know, but I think humans would figure it out heuristically. The desire would surely be there.
