Yes - the baboon is the largest member of the monkey family. As pointed out in other answers, the baboon has a tail, so it isn't classed as an ape. There are several species of baboon - some have only stumpy tails but are still monkeys.
Baboons weigh from 14 to 40 kilos - the female being about half the size of the male. They live in well organised troops where large, dominant males rule and try to protect the other members from predators. Their principal enemy is the leopard but even one of these will avoid a confrontation with a large adult male baboon, which can be a courageous and vicious adversary.

They are indeed monkeys. Old World monkeys include guenons, mangabeys, colobus monkeys, macaques, langurs, and baboons. Compared to New World monkeys, their noses are narrower and have downward-opening nostrils. Old World monkeys do not have prehensile tails; instead, most use their tails simply for balance. As a result, these monkeys are less acrobatic than their New World cousins. Most Old World monkeys spend at least part of their time on the ground. While many are careful not to stray too far from the protective cover of trees, baboons are strong and aggressive enough to defend themselves in the open. Armed with fearsome canine teeth and weighing up to 41 kg (90 lb), male baboons are more than a match for many predators. A baboon in the wild can live as long as 30 years.

Yes a baboon is a monkey, it actually belongs to the same sub order as man and apes which is Catarrhina. however it does not belong to the families of the apes (gibbons, chimps, gorillas or orangs) or therefore to the family pongidae the great apes (chimps, gorillas and orangs)

I think the definition of a monkey is that they have tails (where as an ape, such as a chimpanzee, orangutan, gorilla, etc., do not have tails)--so yup, a baboon is a species of monkey.
