I need a topic that would be good to write 4000 words on. This topic can come from any mathematics subjects. I prefer not to write about math history or anything that relates to history. Can anyone suggest a good topic to write about that relates more to pure mathematics than history of mathematics? Also, please try to keep your suggestions on the college level or at least the high school level. Thanks. I also wanna add that I have taken Calculus and soany topic that goes up til calculus is fine.

A speeding motorist traveling 432000km/s passes a stationary police officer. The officer immediately begins pursuit at a constant acceleration of 36000km/s/s. How much time will it take for the police officer to reach the speeder, assuming that the speeder maintains a constant speed?

I've already spent hours on this and it's driving me nuts. I've tried L'Hopital's rule and either I'm doing something wrong or it really does get messy. I've tried molding it into the form log n/n with no luck... I would be greatly appreciative of anyone who can shed some light on this problem for me. This is just a practice problem, so it's not even anything that would have a direct impact on my grade, I just want to understand it. Thanks in advance.

I am considering to cast myself a planing boat out of marine grade concrete - I know they use it for sailboats with displacement hulls, but would it work for a light boat, too?

I want to try to build a non-toxic boat. I am hoping to use canvas and laminate it over a positive mold using a non-chemical resin. Problem is:
I don't know if there are any, and all the boating companies are looking at me funny when I ask. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks.

"Except for a 22.0 min rest stop, Emily drives with a constant velocity of 89.5 km/h, north. How long does the trip take if Emily's average velocity is 77.8 km/h, north?"

Well, I'd much rather the question read, "Emily's car is blue. Eat it with ketchup, please. How old is your doorknob?" Of course, the present question makes just about as much sense. I've recently asked another question and feel quite stupid for it, but this one's been confusing me for the past half-hour or so. :( Any chance of help?

You are lost at sea, Fortunately you have some astronomical tables and instruments and a Universal time clock. 1. It is the spring equinox 2. The Sun is on your meridian at altitude 75 degrees in the south. 3. The UT clock reads 22:00
The questions are----What is your latitude? how do you know?
What is your longitude? how do you know?
Based on your position where is the closest land and which way do you have to go to get there. The third part is easy but my partner and I cant seem to get the first two even after running through our books like 100 times. Thanks for the help, I mean that!

(I don't know what category to put this in!) Who has ever heard of a female child born without a vagina? My spouse has a family member who give birth to a female child 40 plus years ago with that problem. Somewhere along the line, probably as an infant, she had reconstructive surgery to construct a semblance of the orifice. I don't know if other parts of the reproductive tract were missing, but the child grew up normally in all other aspects, intelligence, etc. She is happily married to a person who admittedly did not want children.
