I'm a little confused. How can there be an end in space if we haven't discovered it yet. What is really out there? These questions run through my mind all day. How will we ever know what's out there if we can't reach it? Are they people out there like me who are completely lost when it comes to this mysterious world? or am I out here alone?

About two years ago there was a plan to build a space rocket powered by two electromagnets disconecting - when two electromagnets disconnect from each other they release a large ammount of energy, there was a plan to harrness this and use it to power a space rocket. I havn't heard since about it.

The general consciences seems to be that humans have occupied the earth for 1.5 million years. Given all the variables (e.g. war, disease, etc.) how many have reached adulthood - lets say 21 years old?

In Cantor set, at every step, the intervals are divided into other 3 intervals and the middle interval is taken out.
Give examples of numbers which are in Cantor set. There is an infinity of such numbers.

Lets say you have walked 5 miles up thin strip of beach. The strip of beach, no wider than a football field at it's widest point, separates the intracoastal waterway and the atlantic ocean. Hence, water on both sides. The beach is a wildlife refuge and therefore contains absolutely no man-made objects.
Assume that a large thunderstorm rapidly approaches, giving you approximately 20 minutes before the heavy rains, blinding lightning and deafening cracks of thunder begin. You have a backpack and a fishing pole. The fishing pole is a graphite composite 7' foot rod, with a machine grade aluminum reel. You have a stainless steel leatherman attached to your belt and a GPS unit in your pocket. In your bookbag you have about two pints of water and several lures, many containing lead sinkers embedded within them.
Assume the lightning and thunder will last about 2 hours. What the heck do you do?

This is not an arbitrary question; it actually has a use. I find that the logic behind the use is also quite interesting.

You have a combination padlock with four dials on it. Each dial has the numbers 0 through 4 on them. The lock can have as many 0s as dials, and is set to 0000 by default. The lock does not allow you to use any number between 1 and 4 two or more times in the combination. The following combinations are valid: 0123 1234 0103 0010 4031. The following combinations are invalid: 0113 4014 0202 4444. How many possible combinations are there?

I would like to have a formula that defines this well enough to calculate, simply, the possible amount of combinations.
