Some ants crawled out of a hole in my wall and were just standing there in a large group. They weren't moving, just standing there, but they have started to go back into the wall now. Does anyone have any idea what they were doing?

I really lack a poor understanding of this topic. In a way I understand it,
but in another way I don't. I am really stumped by a few questions. I've
been over my textbook time and time again, and its not clicking.

1. Does y = |x|-5 and y= |2x|-5 have the same domain and/or range?

2. Does y = -x^2+5 and y = -1/2x^2+5 have the same domain and/or range?

3. What is the domain and range of y = sqrt2x+1?

for #3,
domain options -
all real numbers
all real numbers > or = to negative 1/2
all positive real numbers
all real numbers except negative 1/2

range options -
all real numbers
all real numbers < or = to 4
all real numbers > or = to 0
all real numbers except negative 1/2

I say yes because everything is thought of in logic space before it manifest its self in physical space, such as the Hubble telescope, it was thought of first in deep logic space and now manifest its self deep in physical space, the hubble telescope is an extension of the human mind propelling itsself as deep into physical space as possible but it was first thought of in logic space, Logic space and physical space: one in the same?

we have serious problem with this alien invader tree here in South Africa esp. mountain tributiries, its a serious threat to our local vegetation because it has no natural enemies here. What can one do to get rid of it? I'm only interested in poisons that would not be harmful to the environment/ecology.

More specifically, advances in today's medicine and technology make it so that modern humans do not have to rely on natural selection to survive.

People who are prone to disease will not die because of advances in medicine; instead of thinning the herd and having only the strong survive, humans with an evolutionary weaknesses to disease are allowed to pass on thier genes

Similairly, those not fit to survive physically are now protected by technology. the weak and disabled are surviving and able to pass on their DNA as well, allowing flaws to come though and survive time.

Sure we are getting smarter and are able to tackle new problems, but are we weakening the human race to a point of no return if our link to technology was somehow severed?
