fatec says in his answer to another question (in the Religion and Spirituality section) that 'DNA is absolutely neccesary for ALL life, and information is ONLY produced by intelligence.'

Anyone like to try and either back this up or debunk it?

Thanks

I would view it the other way around. Intelligence is a product of information. Suppose awareness is everywhere, then awareness experiencing conditions creates a response. Intelligence is a response, which arises in an environment of information about the conditions that require a response for evolution to occur. Awareness can exist as potential, but intelligence gives awareness a distinctiveness that is a reflection of the conditions that create an evolutionary response.

One might argue that this is why physical bodies may have been created in the first place. When intelligence and the potential of unlimited awareness begin to work together, a new form of consciousness may arise. In this way, awareness become more than potential, and intelligence becomes more than an evolutionary response. Intelligence can aquire a direction, beyond survival of conditions, it can become conscious of its true relationship to a universe of potential.

The role of DNA is greatly misunderstood. DNA records choice, which creates patterns of change. When science begins to focus more on the way in which human beings change their DNA through human interactions, its purpose as an evolutionary tool will be discovered. We are all walking information systems, sharing choices with each other, switching codes on and off, and recording the results of the changes, successes and failures. Our DNA information systems are interacting with each other nonphysically, and this is already being discovered in science. To say that DNA is necessary for all life does not fully recognize that consciousness exists independently of the physical world.

DNA is a tool for conscious evolution, but if we look at consciousness as the source of life, then DNA is a creation of consciousness, not the other way around. When reading the statement in question, it is clear that the person is speaking in absolutes, and this is often where people become trapped in their perceptions. If this person remembered their consciousness before birth, they would not think in this way, thus the statement is a product amnesia and not scientific evidence. What many believe in as science is also a product of the same amnesia.

My experience, which is something that many scientists are starting to consider, is that the entire universe IS information. Matter, light, time; all information. Everything is created from information, and is creating new information. Light is information. Everything is made of light. The universe is a hologram, reflecting on the surfact of an infinite mirror, and consciousness is always creating from and with the Light/information. Everything, even matter, is made from Light, and every bit of new information becomes one with the Light. DNA is one of the information systems created to program and create with reality. It records and allows changes in a way that is compatible with the consciousness that designed it, which we are beginning to evolve awareness of, which is the goal of history. Hope that gives you some food for thought.

They are somewhat unrelated concepts.

DNA is a physical entity, having to do with the microscopic imprints of information contained in each persons genetic makeup. We believe on Earth that all living organizations have DNA, however clearly life developed in some stage of not having it (out of the primordial ooze).

Information reflects the synthesis of data. Intelligence is the mental capacity of an organism for cognition, indicating a degree of sophistication with regard to its interactions with its environment. While they are related concepts (you might get a better data synthesis from a more intelligent organism) non-organisms are also capable of producing information, like computers.

It depends on how you're using the word "intelligence." If you mean "intelligent" as in "sentient" or "aware," then, yes, information is only produced by intelligence. That is, cats, for example, cannot produce information. It takes a mind that is able to reflect upon itself and its world--a mind that has analytical capabilities--to produce information. A cat's mind (for exampe) has perceptual abilities but not analytical abilities. Therefore, the cat is unable to produce information. A human being, on the other hand, has both perceptual and analytical abilities, and so the human can produce information about the cat.

The cat observes but cannot compute or communicate in an analytical way. The cat observes that when the can opener makes sound, this means that it will get fed. It is a stimulus-response thing--a matter of conditioning. The cat perceives that the noise of the can opener is usually followed by the cat getting fed, and so the cat responds to the stimulus (can opener) by coming into the kitchen and meowing (response).

The human being, however, can glean information about the can opener--how it works, how to dismantle and reassemble it, and so forth. This is because the human can think of things other than itself. The cat can perceive things other than itself, but it cannot consider and mull over these other things. Everything that a cat "thinks" comes back to its own survival needs. There is the extent of self-consciousness in that respect for the cat. The human being, on the other hand, can perceive that the cat is sick, and can wish to get the cat well. And then the human can devise ways of helping the cat--taking it to the vet, changing its diet, and so forth. The cat cannot do these things for its human companions. It doesn't have the information. It may sense that something is different in the human, but that is as far as it goes.

So, information is something based in knowledge; something that is transmitted and received; something that takes consciousness of things outside of self in order to understand, think about, and integrate.

As far as DNA being absolutely necessary for all life goes, that is true. Everything alive is built on simple proteins that are combined into some form of DNA. Intelligence is the eerie part of existence, while DNA is the sensical part. It makes perfect sense that all things with DNA live. It doesn't make sense that this one thing with DNA--the human being--can somehow "live" outside of its body, interacting with things that aren't in front of it, perceiving things on the spiritual plane without having any sensory input whatsoever. (For example, when you are in Bangladesh and your best friend is in the U.S., and you wake in the middle of the night with a terrible feeling about her, only to learn later that she was in a horrible car accident.) Intelligence is the freakish thing in the world--the exception to the otherwise pervasive rule.

This is why people come to God. Because there are things inside and outside of us that we cannot explain in any scientific model. Things that are way out of line when compared to what happens in every other life-form. Think about it: Where does intelligence come from? Not from DNA. There is no chromosome for the ability to perceive things outside of time and space, and yet human beings are able to perceive such things.

Not sure I have all the intelligence to answer this question, or maybe I just don't understand the question.

But in my humble opinion DNA is necessary in all LIFE. I mean without our DNA we are clueless.

We have learned so much since scientist have discover that our being is consisted of DNA patterns.

I am almost always amazed that when someone is raped or killed and someone who did the killing leaves DNA clues behind that a single drop of blood or semen can link us to one person.

I'm sure this is not what you're debating...but nonetheless...I like the question...just not sure how to answer.

Hope to see more opinions on this question.

>> DNA is absolutely neccesary for ALL life <<

Nope, some viruses thrive on RNA and they "are" considered to be half-living organisms.

>> information is ONLY produced by intelligence <<

Huh? Information might be getting noticed or recorded or used by "intelligent" people but, its production sure has nothing to do with "intelligence".

The chemical structure of sand might be referred to as "information" but, trust me-- sand is dumb.

P.S. No hard feelings, fatec. Peace out!

between the most trainable, sensible breeds round is the Border Collie....partly because they have been bred for see you later for strictly operating potential and by no potential something else. Many BC human beings fought transforming into an AKC breed because they did not favor the breed bred for seems for the tutor ring. Primate intelligence, I doubt it. there is not any environmental reason behind dogs to develop that variety of intelligence, plus they do no longer have fingers. yet extremely sensible, problem fixing dogs sure. handbook dogs are educated to imagine for themselves even as necessary, so if the blind individual tell them to bypass a highway, yet they see a automobile coming they might want to take over and refuse the command. extremely sensible dogs, do no longer neccessarily make strong pets for the common living house...they lose interest and can make up their very personal amusements which may reason wide destruction in a house. yet like something breeding for a trait takes many generations and many dogs is purely no longer any extra perfect and must be worse than previous generations except you're ruthlessly weeding the a lot less sensible out of the gene pool or maybe then it ought to correctly be like playing the lottery :) you ought to finally end up with extremely sensible dogs which have another wide disorder ....human beings are by no potential going to be as strong as Nature at picking for survival characteristics.

I believe intelligence is only produced by information, and I am the Oracle, and that's that. And that's my final answer.

Everything is a form of information. The ability to process this data into knowledge is the hallmark of intelligence.
