The drugs most commonly associated with nightmares are certain beta-blockers (e.g. propranolol), amphetamines, sedatives and hypnotics (e.g. valium, rohypnol).

There are many medicines that can cause vivid dreaming. Common ones include antidepressants, anti-anxiety medication and even some insomnia meds. Each person is different and it is difficult to tell how a certain medication will effect a person.
