Whwn we mix NaCl in water, is it hydrolysis process?
Nacl+H2O....>NaOh+HCl? So it means salty water someone shd not drink? But isn't hcl too strong acid?Confusing?
Why it is said that metals corrode severly in solutions containing Chlorides?i guess in those the reaction i wrote occure?

No, its not hydrolysis. NaCl separates into ions Na+ and Cl-. The reaction above can only occur at extremely high temps or when a salt soln is electrolysed.

The Na+ and Cl- ions are surrounded by water molecules. The soln. is neutral since the parent acid and base NaOH and HCl are very strong.

Chlorides corrode metals which can set up a favourable cell with the surrounding soln.

That is hydrolysis, but you're ignoring half of your equation. NaOH is a strong base, which would counteract any production of HCl in an equimolar fashion. Thus a NaCl solution would be neutral.

Exposing metals to chloride produces chloride salts (such as cupric chloride; a salt with copper). These products lend themselves easily to oxidation reactions - combination with oxygen (usually from the air, but also from water) causes the formation of oxides, such as Cupric oxide CuO2. You can get many other addition reaction on top of that just from air components, such as hydroxides and carbonates from water and CO2 as well.

Not hydrolysis, simple disassociation of a soluble ionic salt.

To get the reaction you describe, you need >1000C - then someway of stabilizing either the acid or base as:
NaOH + HCl -> Na+ + Cl- + H2O

the titration of NaOH and HCl releases large amounts of energy. but if u mix salt and water, hydrolysis wont occur because there isnt enought energy to turn the salt water back to acid and base

One shouldn't drink saltwater, but not because of the hydrochloric acid content.

Semipermiable cell membranes in your body allow water to pass through them in order to balance concentrations of salts in your body fluids. If you drink too much saltwater, too much water will leave your cells, causing them to dehydrate.

The hydrochloric acid content in saturated salt water is too minute to worry about.
