I mean come on. If a horse and a donkey make a sterile mule, obviously, what used to be 1 species has recently split into 2 species.

One thing that bothers me is the so called "time paradox". For example, what if we go back in time and accidentally kill our grandfather, thus ensuring that we were never born, so how could we go back in time then? One way out of this type of paradox is the realization of the "many worlds" hypothesis but where is the proof for the "many[infinite] universes"?

Since the propellant for a supervolcano eruption is dissolved and compressed gas, and since releasing the pressure causes the runaway expansion that empties the entire lava chamber, it would seem that anything that tried to relieve the pressure would trigger the eruption. So if we knew that we had an eruption coming in a decade or so what could we do to prevent it?

Is it going to go today (monday) or did the weather delay it again? What happened with that crack they found? There was meant to be a news conference. I would just check a news website but they are notoriously bad at reporting on this kind of thing, even the BBC.

According to Einstein’s famous equation, E = mc2, matter and energy are interchangeable. So far, we have converted matter into energy through fission and fusion.

Beyond trivial, quantum level interactions, has anyone found a way to create matter out of energy?

I watched the science channel the other day, and I saw a scientist classifying 5 extraterrestrial civillizations. He said a type 1 civillization has 2 planets colonized, a type 2 has 3 planets colonized, a type 3 has several planets colonized, a type 4 has a vast trade network between solar systems, and a type 5 civillization has an empire of planets in multipile solar systems.I thought this guy is crazy, that means that our civillization isn't even a type 1 yet. He was assuming that there's other life in the universe and he was also assuming that they are far more advanced than us. I can't remeber his name but he is well known in the science community.I just think that astronomical science is excaping reality and dive bombing towards fiction. The perameters for life are very vast. It is usually assumed that life is common in the universe, however a planet must be a perfect distance from a star, the star has to be a certain type, there must be a giant gas planet to protect the planet..

I have been very curious about this for a year or two now, and have been wondering if sound can travel through a vacuum. More specifically whether sound in space ie. an explosion could be heard on a ship with an atmosphere. Yea I know it's basic physics, it's just been a long time.
