There's a good whack of young people here with babies, or with babies on the way, saying "But I work and go to school!" in response to the usual slags on teen-age mothers as irresponsible welfare recipients.

I'm reading a book about the working poor in the US right now ("No Shame in My Game") and this does not seem...possible.

How on earth does one find an entry-level job that supports two people and pays for child care?

Not criticizing; just very curious. The book's about the urban poor, so I may be missing something about the cost of living in rural parts of the States.

Some explanation -- "I am a receptionist; I make $x/week, my rent is $X, child care costs me $X, so..." would be extremely useful.

Of course how one finds the energy to work AND go to school AND raise an infant will continue to boggle me, but. I'm very curious about the economics involved.

Hello everyone.. im 8 weeks pregnant. I am a milk aholic... i love milk.. i drank it everyday before. Well i started getting pregnancy nausea really bad, someone suggested that it may be the milk.. I stopped eating my cereal in the morning and now my nausea is no where near as bad..... I really believe its the milk. How could this be possible, iv never had this problem before... Has this happened to anyone else just while being pregnant? will i be able to drink it again after the baby comes?

im in deep paranoia right now, i dont know if i should be worried about being pregnant, i had sex once and used protection and havent ever since, it happened 2 days before my period ended and i worried ever since that day, the day after sex i had a stomach ache and nausea and felt so scared of pregnancy and ive had that in my head since that day, now my period was due today and it didnt come and it has me more stressed than ive been for the past month, im having cramps all over my stomach and feel pressure, even though i took a test a urine test 2 weeks after intercourse at the doctors i've been reading here that it might have been too early to tell, please help me i dont know what to do i feel like my stomach is getting harder and it hurts when i press down on the lower part of it ive also been peeing alot, im so cared, should i stop worrying can it be that my period is coming or what? :(

Okay, here is the situation: My last period was Jan 26. Lasted 6 days- moderate. 10 Days before that, I had sex the 13th & 14th day after my period in Dec. and I had cramping up until my period came. (I did have sex during that cycle). 11 days after that cycle, I had sex again. According to MyMonthleyCycles I was supposed to get my period on Feb 20 as well as the Web MD calendar. I’ve been getting dizzy & light headed which isn’t normal, tired a lot even if I get 10 hours of sleep, and eating a lot more. haven’t thrown up. My breasts are not that tender, they are sensitive a little. I feel sharp pains on the sides of my abdomen & little twitches. Sometimes I feel a little bit of cramping. I sleep on my stomach, but it’s no longer comfortable. And To this day, NO PERIOD. My cycle is usually 23-26 days apart. Not one sign of blood. I took a test this morning; it was negative (Clearblue Easy). I also have Fact Plus. Both have 2 in it. However, I did drink water before I went to sleep and that was my first time using the restroom. Did I get the wrong test since it says 5 days BEFORE your missed period? Could I POSSIBLY be pregnant or am I crazy. What should I do? Has it happened to you? I would REALLY appreciate the advice.

im bleeding very lightly with no pain. Its only when i go to the toilet i see pinkish blood when i wipe myself. i have no pain no cramping. ive phoned nhs direct they told me to call my doctor so i have and she isnt their this afternoon. so im awaiting the nurse to call me. i had sex last night if that helps but it wasnt necessarily rough.

im 9 wks pregnant but i havent had it confirmed from my doc. ive been twice but he just booked me in with the midwife for 2 wks time, is this normal? i thought he would take a urine sample.
also when can u hav your first scan cos people are telling me is 22wks!! i dont think i can wait that long as i cant even work out my due date cos i cant remember last dat of period!any advice .

I had a scan on the 25.08.06 and they said i was 10+ weeks and gave a due date of the 25.03.07. I did not know my first day of period at this point. I had another scan on the 2.11.06 and that said 21 weeks exactly. They altered my due date to the 15.03.07. My first day of my last period was 8.06.2006 so that works out at 40 weeks. Why did they put me back 10 days and when roughly did i conceive?

I am 28 weeks along. My daughter has lice. How do I treat it? I heard the treatments are bad for pregnant women, is this true? I posted a question on here last night about the same thing kinda, but i have another question. im 36 weeks but only measuring 32 weeks. im thinking all kinda of horrible thoughts , about iugr (interuterine growth restriction) and what not but maybe nothing is wrong ... has anyone ever measured small, up to 4 weeks or more, and end up having nothing wrong with the baby ? or if you did, what was wrong ? how do they diagnos iugr ?

Before starting with the pill, we did use a condom, but when I was in my periods the first day and the last day of my periods we used to have sex without a condom, I didnt get pregnant, but still want to know if I can get pregnant by doing it that way.

I asked a question yesterday asking if you could be pregnant even tho you got your period only 1 week afte sex. Some people werent clear on what i meant. what I meant was does that period count because it was only 1 week after ?? and i do realize the different between spotting and a period and it wasnt spotting

last night I could not sleep at all, I kept waking up every hour, for no reason, I was not in pain or anything. I stayed up officially at 6am, and I AM WIDE AWAKE! which is odd because I can usually sleep until 12pm without waking up once.

when I went to the bathroom this morning I had loose stools? I heard this is a sign of going into labor..has anybody else experienced any of these signs & if so, how long before your little one was finally here?
