they all protect about the same. The most popular brand is Trojans, but my husband actually prefers the Durex ultra thin. He says it gives him the best sensation. Make sure to get the condoms with spermicide - it helps to protect you even further from pregnancy. Also - totally practice putting it on and remember to leave room at the tip (or it can break from pressure). To put it on - hold the tip between your thumb and forefinger to make there are no air bubbles and slowly roll down the shaft of yoru penis. Again - make sure there are no air bubbles and that there is room at the tip for your semen.
Congrats on making such a wise decision!

All condoms are more or less the same as far as safety HOWEVER you must wear one that fits you. If it doesn't roll all the way to the base of your penis it is too small, and always pinch the top as you unroll it so there will be room for the sperm, even though most condoms have resevoirs.
You should also use at LEAST two forms of birth control, condoms obviously because of STDs as well. Your other options are:
*the sponge (very safe when used with condoms, almost 100% effective
*spermicidal foams and jellies (slightly less effective than the sponge)
*cervical caps, diaphrams, Lea's Shield (Lea's Shield is the only one of these available without prescription)
* IUDs
* Birth control pills, patches, rings, injections (very effective though hormones may not be advisable particularly for younger girls).
All methods of birth control have pros and cons. Call Planned Parenthood and discuss it with them (best with the two of you together, in person just find out where the closest center is), or the two of you should see a doctor. If you absolutely won't discuss it with a doctor or nurse research all the methods on the internet. Here is but one of many sites:

Kudos on the good judgement...
To answer your question, you want to make sure that whatever brand you choose, they are LATEX and not some other material. Also, I would try one on when you are by yourself before the deed becasue they can be tricky at first and if they are not properly worn it can cause tearing and leaks.
I wish there were more responsible guys out there like you!

as long as your girlfriend isn't allergic to latex, condoms that are a good fit to you without any color, because the dye can infect a female. As for brands, go and look at what's out there and if latex is part of it, your in luck. good luck
