the problem should clear up soon. let some air get to the nipples and try not to worry.. her breasts are preparing and filling with milk so they are bound to be uncomfortable. when i had my son i breastfed him after giving birth and it hurt like hell and my poor nipples were so sore and swollen but just keep at it and it'll be so rewarding. i breastfed my son for 15 months and it was such a lovely thing. a special time for you to hold you child in your arms and feel proud that you can give them what they need. and only you can provide it.

Hormonal changes affect people in many different ways during pregnancy. Her milk will not come in until after the baby is born. I think it is a day or two after. She can put an anti-itch lotion on her nipples now to deal with the problem- I think cortisone based work. Once the baby is born, the best thing she can do is not stress-out about nursing. Some people can do it others can't, but I can tell you thank freaking out about not being able to do it can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. It is easy and natural if you relax and let nature take its course.

Hi,
I had exactly the same problem when I was in the late stages of pregnancy. I'm afraid I can't give her any advice as I didn't do anything about it. It's possible that it could be thrush, so she should probably be more sensible than I was and go and see her doctor.
Luckily mine did go away when my baby was born and I was able to breastfeed. I hope she can too and that the rest of the pregnancy goes well.

Hi I bought a nice chammomile cream from the chemist when I had itchy nipples. It has no bearing on whether she will breastfeed or not. Itching is so common in pregnancy its one of the most common things, by the time her milk comes properly she will feel better.

i am also 30 weeks today and plan on breastfeeding, my breasts are very itchy too.
the best thing i have figured out is to leave them alone as much as possible and try to avoid getting any soaps or lotions on the actual nipple, i've been told it can be irritating to them and it seems to help me.

i dont think that the itching has to do with her being pergant. cuz im not pregant and mine have been doin that. i think that it has to do with the cold air or something but tell her to be pasient and just wait until the baby is born and see what happens cuz the babys mouth might not even fit over her nipple or something. so just tell her not to stress though cuz of course it can caulse the baby stress

with some of the fluid leaking out of your daughters nipples it may help if she rubs a little in to them it actually helps to soothe them it did when i was 32 weeks pregnant and also it helps any cracked nipples when it does come to her to breast fed
