They will probably do one anywhere from 16 weeks to 22 weeks. I know it sucks to wait, but thats the life of a pregnancy!

It depends on the area you live in as different healthcare authorities do different tests. Your midwife will discuss these with you. But basically you will either have a nuchal scan at 13 weeks or a dating scan at around 15 weeks, which you will have if your area does the triple blood tests rather than a nuchal scan.
All areas do a scan between 18 and 22 weeks which is an anomoly scan.
There is no reason for your doctor to do a test to confirm your pregnancy. Home tests are very reliable and doctors and generally happy to take their patient's word for it!
You first midwife appointment will be a booking in appointment. Don't expect too much in the way of physical examinations etc because your midwife will also take your word for it that you are pregnant and it's too early to be feeling your stomach or listening to the heartbeat.
You could pay for a private scan earlier if you like, but there really is no need. A scan is a medical procedure that should be carried out for medical reasons, and not just because you are keen to see your baby!
Good luck.

It all depends on what authority you live in. Standard scans are done at 20 weeks in most places when the mother has a clear idea when she fell pregnant though in your case you will probably be given a dating scan around 13/14 weeks because you are unsure of your dates.
Good luck and relax, you needn't worry! It's normal not to see a midwife until you are 8/9 weeks and she will answer everything you'll need to know and that's when they take urine and blood. Take care!!

your 1st scan should be around 12 weeks, and yes it is norml 4 ur doc not 2 do a sample cos if u have done one
and it was positive the one they do will be the same result cos you cannot have a positive result that means negative cos u produce certain hormones when pregnant and that is what a test picks up. Your midwife will get in touch asap. Congrats on the pregnancy x

then an abonormalitly scan around 20wks

I'm not using a midwife & I had one at 6 weeks for spotting, 1 at 9, & 1 at 12. I'll be going for the Gender scan Tuesday (20 weeks). However, a friend who is using a midwife, had her 1st at 21 weeks.

For the first few months, there isn't really anything they can do for you when you are pregnant, other than to tell you to eat healthy and take a multivitamin. Sometimes they do an ultrasound in the beginning, but it's not really necessary and there isn't much to see. The big ultrasound comes about the time you are scheduled for one. The first day of your last period is the best way they can tell you your due date right now; later on they can give you more concrete information based on the ultrasound. My advice is to get out the calendar and try really hard to remember when it was.

Sometimes you are given a vaginal unltrasound early on in your pregnancy. However, some doctors find that it is unnecessary (I didn't have it done). The ultrasound following should be conducted between 18-22 weeks. This is usually when you can determine the sex of your baby. (I had mine done at 19 weeks.) It's odd that your doctor didn't take a urine sample, because they do that at every single one of my appointments. Your midwife will probably handle all of that at your next appointment. If you are are confused about anything, be sure to ask!

Doctors do normally confirm however your midwife can do this when you see her.. You shouldn't have to wait until you are 22 weeks for your scan though, you should have one scan around 12 weeks and one around 20 weeks. Good luck

They may order an Ultrasound when you go in for your visit in 2 weeks.. If you cant remember the date of your last period then they need something to calculate or get a due date for you, and an early ultrasound gives a better idea... Talk to the midwife or your doctor when you go in, and ask them.. They should be able to tell you when to expect one....
