Pregnancy - January 2007

I am 6 weeks pregnant and had been spotting, the doctor put me on Baby aspirin 1per day, progesterone 50 mg 2 times per day, penatal vitamins and folgard once a day. I had 2 previous miscariages in 1 year, I am 39. Tomorrow I have my first ultrasound. Thanks for all your answers.

Some of the literature I have on pregnancy says I need to call my insurance company (I am with United Healthcare, I have an independent account, I am preferred status P.P.O) and ask them about what is covered during pregnancy, etc. I am unsure of what questions specifically I need to ask. Do I inquire about ultrasounds , lab tests, and how many doc visits I am alotted throughout my pregnancy? Also, since I have a PPO, does this mean I am fairly free to pick whatever hospital etc, that I want? Any suggestions as to what to ask are appreciated.

I have heard from 2 different people that pregnant women cannot be around cat litter is this true? I am pregnant and have 3 cats so the litter needs cleaned out everyday. My fiance works full time and my daughter is to young to clean it. so I am the only one who can clean it, I can't let it go because the smell is nausiating if I do. I'm not getting rid of my cats what can I do?

Im 17 weeks pregnant and i cannot stay awake at night, we have four little boys and are always on the go. So after putting them to bed at night, i fall asleep. Im usually sleeping by 9pm. This has been affecting my relashionship with my hubby, i hate falling asleep but no matter what i cannot seem to stay awake!! Our sex life before i was pregnant was about 2-3 times a week. Now its about 1 night a week if that. Whats going on here, and what can i do. I feel like an aweful wife. He doesnt complain or act like it bothers him at all, hes very supportive, what can i do?!?!? I miscarried one embryo at what the doctor estimated was around five weeks but a scan showed a second embryo still developing normally. I had a second scan on the surviving twin today, nearly three weeks later, and they could not detect a heart beat and said growth had been slower than they would like. Hoping the dates were off and a h/b will show at a third scan next week and wondering if a bad bronchial infection I have just shaken after two weeks may have had a bearing on the growth rate. I didn't take medication. I have all the pregnancy symptoms from sore back and breasts to morning sickness and have already bonded very strongly so it is hard to adjust to the idea I might be carrying something that was just not meant to be. What are the chances it could rectify itself?

Is it normal for clear liquid to leak from my nipples during pregnancy? At first, I thought it was colostrum, but I keep reading that colostrum is indeed a thick yellowish color. This susbstance is clear and rather thin in texture. I guess I'm trying to ask if colostrum can be clear and thin? BTW im 24 weeks tomorrow. thanks.

cramps. not the usual cramps though! they hurt pretty bad.
it was about 4:45 am and so i went to the bathroom thinking i was going to puke or something and nothing happened. these cramps lasted for about 10 min. i got back from the bathroom the 1st time and started to sweat really bad so i had to turn the fan on i was so hot i was cold.. ((make sence?)) i was sweating on my forehead and all over my body then i went to the bathroom ((sorry if this is too much)) and felt better after a few min on the toilet.
is this normal? anybody expierence hot flashes like that? or crapms that were worse than usual? i am 5 weeks and i was going to call my doctor today and ask but they dont open for another few hours so im just tryin to get some feedback to see if this is semi- normal.
its the cramps i was worried about!

Im not really asking a question i just want to moan! lol! This pregnancy is horrible i feel soooooo sick! My kids are driving me potty and i have really bad cramps this time round. The house is a pig stye but i just cant bring myself to do anything, and ive been on here most the day trying to take my mind off of throwing up : ( Anyone else having a bad time of it? Find that they put on more weight than the average person during their pregnancy? My first two children were born before I developed this condition so with them I put on about a stone and a half with both.I never got any heavier than 9 stone with each of them but this time Im 8 weeks pregnant and 11 stone before Ive even begun to gain pregnancy weight. I am treated for my thyroid with 150mg of thyroxine daily.I know my levels are most likely to need adjusting whilst pregnant (they have already risen now) but im just worried about excessive weight gain as us people with thyroid disease dont find it easy to loose it because of our slow metabolism!!

i am about 8 weeks pregnant and this weekend i started cramping not really bad..... well then i started spotting brownish blood so i thought it not that much and it not bright red so im okay but the next morning i went to use the bathroom and when i sat down it was like my body let go of this bright red blood so i wore a pad allday and not too much was showing up on the pad but as soon as i would sit on the toilet it would all come out. its only when im sitting on the toilet nothing really goes on the pad. should i be concerned i dont think i have had any clotts although i am totally freaked to look in the bowl. i dont have really bad cramps although i really never get cramps. Does anyone think this is a miscarriage ?

I'm 24 weeks pregnant, and for the last 3 weeks, my boyfriend has been going out nearly everynight. he comes home from work, gets ready, has a sandwich for dinner and is out the door again. i've told him that i need to spend time with him, but its just going in one ear and out the other.
after Xmas, he came back on night at 4.30AM after saying he's going to be back early (i.e, b4 11pm). in the morning when he woke up he was going on and on and on about this girl Cyd. just this last week, she's been txting and phoning him non-stop and when i asked to meet her he blew his top. in all fairness to him, i had said that she's a cow (nicely put 4 u guys on here) thats trying to get into his pants, and now he won't let me meet any1 that may know her.
i feel terrible for doing this, but last night when he fell asleep, i looked at his phone. he's deleated all his messages, and all his call list. i wish i hadn't cuz no only does it make me really paranoid, but i feel super guilty now!

OK, my friend and I have been in a debate over the accuracy of home prenancy test kits. I saw it only needs to detect a small amount of the hormone to show a positive. I had asked yesterday if a pregnant woman pees in a pool, would a home pregnancy test kit detect it. Overwhelmingly, everyone answered and said NO, the size of the pool and the chlorine would not detect it. So, now my friend and I are debating if you used a smaller body of water, like a bathtub. I am curious if this could prove my point. I am curious if any pregnant women would like to participate in an experiment. If you peed in a bathtub and then filled it up with water, then stick a home pregnancy kit in it if it will show a ++++. Any takers for this experiment?

I haven't been sick this whole pregnancy, I am 40 weeks with my 2nd, and last night I woke up with vomit in my mouth, then this morning it felt like I had to burp, and when I did I felt a little more vomit there. My stomach feels queasy, not real queasy but I can feel some upsetment. I know I am close to labor because I'm 40 weeks, I'm getting induced sun., but is this a sign labor may start on it's own?
