I had undiagnosed hypothyroidism with all three of my pregnancies. I gained 40-odd pounds with my first, 40-odd pounds with my 2nd and 60-odd pounds with my third child.
I never lost the weight from the kids but 3 years after I had my last one, my thyroid went hyper which was when it was discovered that I'd been hypo for years. I've lost over 100 lbs since then so most of the baby weight from my kids.
It does make you gain more weight then average no matter how little you eat.. at least it did for me.
Keep your endocrinology appointments and hopefully since yours is diagnosed and you're using the meds, you won't have a major problem with it. Good luck and congrats on the baby.

I was pleasantly plump when I got pregnant the first time, put on the usual weight, then lost it all quickly after the birth. I also started to become depressed, AFTER the usual 'baby blues' time. For my second pregnancy I started out at 8 stone, put on the usual weight, then after delivery became SERIOUSLY depressed. Referred by my GP to the endocrinologist, he diagnosed hypothyroidism (under-active) along with Raynaud's. I was put on Thyroxine. But depression continued to be horrendous although I never put weight on. Stayed at 8 stone for decades yet needed Thyroxine all the time (quite low dose). It could be that my adrenal glands are wonky - that would account for not putting on weight. But I am the exception to the rule.
I recommend you get in touch with the Thyroid Patients Advocacy site on Yahoo. They are www.tpa-uk.org.uk or tpa-uk@yahoogroups.com Some patients do not do well on Thyroxine. There are alternatives! There is hope! All the best!
P.S. Most hypothyroid sufferers have a dreadful job controlling their weight, especially if they need large doses of Thyroxine. Many say that no matter how strictly they diet, no weight is lost. Then they get accused of having no self-control, to add insult to injury! Because of risk of high blood pressure, you must get help.

I've been eating like a horse... but still within the range of proper weight gain. Of course my thyriod is only off by a little, so my thyroid dosage is very low. Don't worry about losing the weight, for hypothyroid sufferers weight gain really doesn't pose a serious problem w/ proper nutriention and excercise. Really! it may be a little harder to shed those pounds, but not much.

Yes, I had twins. I did not gain an exceptional amount of weight. You need to be under the care of an endocrinologist as well as your OBGyn.
If your thyroid is regulated properly with medication, then the ability to lose weight is no different than for anyone else. Don't let the thyroid problem become an excuse for not taking care of yourself.

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tr.im/0VBYT
Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour.
Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland.
Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.

You should start by not wanting to get pregnant, just have sex everyday or every other day and don't think about getting pregnant, just have fun with your partner. Get more useful information and guides to get pregnant here https://tr.im/VIzfQ
after sex-put a pillow under your butt or prop your feet up on the wall so your pelvis is tilted
eat healthy
back off caffiene
workout, even if its just a 20 minute walk a day, be active.

No I didn't put on more weight than normal, sorry.
Have they told you yet that you may be more prone to diabetes? You need to wach out for this. Throxine and Insulin are hormones and if one 'breaks' you are more prone to others becoming 'faulty'. Watch out for this during your pregnancy as it can harm baby (and you) if goes undetected.
Good luck with it, xx

Hey,
I recently found a good online resource about hypothyroidism. I wanted to know more about treatment options and how to stop hypothyroidism at the source and I bumped into this program called hypothyroidismrevolution. I found it very useful. Check it out here http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=560
