I had a c-section in 2005. It took about 2 weeks for the incision to not feel painful(gradually got better over the weeks). Your stomach will go down all the way in a few months...it's your uterus that is what's still making you look pregnant and it takes time to shrink. The bleeding stopped after about a week for me and spotted for about another week after that, but that is different for every woman. Just be sure to look for clots when you go to the bathroom, if you see any large ones(like walnut size or bigger) call the Dr. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Yes I did. It took my body a long time to heal cause I had complications. My incision site had gotten infected and I had to be put on IV antibiotics for a few days. My tummy didn't go back down all the way but I didn't exercise everyday either. I bled the same as if I had the baby naturally so the bleeding should stop in a few days.

My OB advised me not to get pregnant after my c-section for at least 6 months so my body could completely heal. The incision itself took 7 weeks to heal because a week after my delivery, my incision opened up about 1/4 inch. My OB told me it was because I had an infection inside, which wasn't caused by anything I or the doctor did, it was just one of those things that happens occasionally. It was actually better that the incision did open up to drain. Otherwise, they would have had to open me back up and let it drain. I had to pack the opening until it healed from the inside out. My belly never went back down to normal. I think with any type of delivery, it all depends on your genetics and how good of shape you were in before pregnancy and how much exercise you do after wards to get back in shape. I bled for at least 6 weeks, which is about the same with a vaginal delivery, so I am told.

I had one Oct 25th.
I took about 6 - 7 weeks before I was completely back to normal (I could run up stairs and not think about it). It was about 3 weeks when I could comfortably move a little faster etc. (it was at this point I got intimate with hubby too, but paid for it the next day).
My stomach has not gone back down yet, but I haven't been doing sit ups, but it's not overly big.
I didn't breastfeed, and I bled for about 2 weeks, but it was very light.
Congratulations on your new one and remember "if it hurts, don't do it"....My doctors advice to me when I left the hospital.

I had a C-section in 2003 and I'm going to assume that yours was the traditional way, which is a bikini cut. I had a gruesome expirence with mine and I am suffering for it. See, mine was cut vertically (up and down) and the training docs (yes, they were in training in this hospital) he took the staples out 7 days too early. They had to restaple me, and sent me home. Then, two weeks later I ended up w/ an infection b/c they did not instruct my hubby the proper way to clean the wound. So, they left me with an open wound for about 2 months before it closed up fully. Now, mind you I still had an infant to deal with and I had to go back to work. I didn't have the option of quitting since I was in the Navy and I had no more time left and thed docs wouldn't let me stay home for more time b/c they thought that I was fine. Needless to say, I recommend that anyone having a baby DO NOT HAVE IT AT BALBOA IN SAN DIEGO!!!!!
To answer your question....you'll get your body back!

why do people feel the need to share their horror-stories on here!? people are already scared enough to be having a baby, they don't need to hear gruesome details. I had 2 c-sections, and they were both totally diff't. Good luck to you and the new baby!!
