At 4wks preg, I had an ultrasound but it picked up nothing, so I had to have an internal scan where it picked up one sac...nothing inside it, but they honestly said it was too early. I'm going back next week (which will be ten days later) and I'm wondering if I'm likely to see anything then? Also, is it possible that another sac could develop, or there could be two heartbeats in one sac? I only ask, because my HCG levels are extremely high - 13,540 at 4wks.

Anyone here or a signifigant other of someone here have a balanced translocation and have children?? AKA a chomosome rearrangement. If so, please share your story with me. My husband and I are planning to start a family but are concerned because he has a balanced translocation (he himself is perfectly fine and normal except for the fact that he carries the gene for it.) and we know there can be difficulties due to it. We could use any help or advise from someone who has experiance with this, we dont know where to start. Thanks in advance!!

I heard that girls will not get pregnant if they have sex during the first week after their period gets over even if they do not use any sort of birth control pills or condom.

Yesterday i went in for my 11 week sonogram. First one i've had. The sonographer found a yolk sac and what she believed to be a fetal pole. Although there was no heart beat she said the baby measured at six weeks not eleven. I was unsure of the date of my lmp but that couldn't account for missing 5 weeks!! Could it? Is it more likely that my baby just quit growing at 6 weeks or could this lady just not know what she's talking about. I have a backwards tilted uterus...could this have anything to do with it? The doctors won't tell me anything! I have to wait until atleast monday. I took another preg test to see if i still had traces of hcg and it showed up a very dark pos. So the levels must be high...what could be going on? Has anyone had a similiar experience? I'm frustrated and confused.

Does anyone know what a "normal" HCG level is? I'm 4-5wks pregnancy, and my HCG levels seem extremely high...and my friend joked that it might be twins (this was not funny!). They are now 13,540.

I was just kind of curious. Im due in July with my 4th child. and my 1st labor was 23 hrs, my 2nd labor was 20hrs, my 3rd labor was 6hrs. Will this labor go fast too? it may be a boy, my others are girls(pretty swift with all of them). is there any difference? my friend says boys are more stubborn than girls..is this true?

I just got a bill from the radiology department of our hospital for my ultrasound I had done at 20 weeks. My insurance has denied coverage on it stating that a routine ulrasound is NOT medically necessary!?!? I've always had them with my other children! Are they not medically necessary? I always thought that they were seeings how there were things they needed to check for!

If you want good, solid answers, ask early in the morning when they are at school, or sleeping. You get a lot less "riff raff".

My fiance says that he is ashamed to tell his family that I am pregnant before we are married, but he sure wasn't ashamed to have a sexual relationship with me before we were married. Now, I am pregnant and he says that the only way he would be ok with the pregnancy is if he gets this job promotion that he was told he might get, when our income right now to me is more than enough to take care of a child. Why can't he see past the financial aspect, and look at the joy of a child...our child.

i went into labor on saterday....within 20 of being at the hospital with contractions every 2 min i was 80% effaced and 1 cm dilated. after that i stopped progressing and my contractions stopped on thier own 17 hours later....fun huh? i was sent home and told that i would probly be back very soon. Ever since i left the hospital i have been having braxton hicks like crazyy...some hurt some dont, no pattern tho. Im very very crampy, and i keep getting those horrible shooting pains because my babies head is so low. I cant take it anymore its so painful. sleep is impossible. ive been trying nipple stimulation but its not working and sex isnt an option. ive been walking miles everyday...do u think castor oil would work for me?

Ok I've heard that if the woman's stomach is high than that means she's having a girl and if it's low she's having a boy or something like that. Also I've heard that if the mom is really tired all the time then that means she's having a boy. I just want to know if these two myths are true. Thx.

I am 36 weeks & 3 days along today... Ever since yesturday, I have been having really weird symptoms....Like it feels like my baby's head is grinding against my pubic bone....and if I were to lay down and push she'd come out, also I have been really dizzy this morning, and been having little bits of the shakes (but I am not cold)....I've been having contractions (they are not painful....more or less just tightening)... I have also felt very nauseated this morning....and for the past few days I have been going to the bathroom with a lot of BM's...they are really not like diareah or anything... I just go a lot...and I also just feel numb around the vaginal area.....I was wondering if any of these are for sure true labor signs.....and if anyone experienced these signs them selves....how much longer after you did....was you on your way to the hospital....????Just wondering...since I have until Tuesday before I am fullterm....

I just had an ultrasound this past wednesday and was told the baby has dropped. I went to the grocery store today, and about halfway through the store, my back started hurting, and it just gets worse the more i move. I dont know if its just because i was walking alot and the weight of the baby caused it to start hurting, or if it could be back labor. The tech at the ultrasound didnt say which way the baby is facing, and i know if the baby is facing away from your back, you're likely to have back labor. It's my first baby, and i'm really sure how to tell when its labor or not, and with the pain in my back, could it be back labor? how long should i wait before i call my doctor? my water hasnt broke *which i know doesnt happen very often in pregnancy until they break it for you*, and i'm not having contractions. I lost my mucus plug way back in october when iwas in the hospital for a kidney stone. i dont want to worry myself and have it be a false alarm. what do you think it is?
