I am getting this weird upper and lower back pain and menstrual like cramps. Can I be going into labor soon. I do have some stomach pains but I can use the potty. Does anyone know why? The back pain feels bad. I am still working at the law firm and everyone says I should go home now and rest.

OMG Woman, go home and rest! LOL Is this your first? When you get a rush of energy, or just absolutely got to finish something with the nursery, make sure you get someone round to yours. Don't get your hopes up too high though, because the last 2/3 weeks your body and mind plays a lot of tricks on you!

But go and rest, and take stock of your life as it is now, because soon it will all be over, and in it's place you are going to experience magic like never before!

Very best of luck to you, and enjoy every moment when your new little person becomes part of your family!

But go and rest now!!!

It is very possible to be going into labor, however, it could be braxton hicks. One way to help you figure out if youare in labor is walk for more than an hour, if your contractions pick up with your woalking, and stay going after you rest then you are likely in labor, if you stop waling and the contrations taper off, then you still have some time. The back pain can be attributed to the baby droping and resting on your hips, plus if you have been sitting or standing alot, then that can contribute also. Just make sure you keep track of your contractions. I prefered having a stop watch and keeping track that way. Either way, it wouldn't be a bad idea to to contact your Doc and see what he/she says.

You want to feel for your contractions to be 2-5 minutes apart for an hour or more. And as the contractions pick up, you should feel enough discomfort and pain to stop what youare doing.

Good luck

These can either be Braxton-Hicks labor pains, or you may in fact be going into early labor. Let's also keep in mind that your baby is growing at a steady rate and is requiring more room in the womb, which also causes a great deal of discomfort for the mother. When you're able, put your feet up and get as much rest as possible. If you can sit on a pillow or donut, that may also help the discomfort in your lower body.

Anytime after your 37th week, you're considered "full term."

If you're having contractions, start timing them. If you have them for an hour where they are 5 minutes apart, I'd call the doctor. If you have the "bloody show," or you're leaking water, call the doctor.

If walking, a warm bath or changing positions makes them ease up, then it's Braxton Hicks contractions and not real labor.

Go home and rest and start timing your contractions. You need to try to sleep some; if it's labor, you'll need your energy.

Good luck!!

your probably in labor, and the back pain is called "back labor" and it is painful. If and when you have contractions get to the hos. From what ive been told people who have back labor tend to have fast delivery. I have two boys and had back labor and had my sons in about 20 mins lol and about 3 pushes. Be careful. And stay in tune with your body, you are more than likely in labor :) GOODLUCK and CONGRATS!

I think it is time you start your maternity leave. It sounds to me like it won't be long before you have your baby. Of course, you need to call your ob or go in to the office to see him/her. If the pain gets worse just go to the emergency room. You are probably starting some mild labor. Congratulations and Good Luck!
