Hi, my daughter is 14 months old and over the last couple of days has been drinking a lot more than usual, she has 8 oz of milk with her breakfast and is having 5-6 full beakers of juice (apple and mango pure juice mixed 50/50 with water, to stop her getting bunged up ) and then 8oz of milk at bed time. This seems a lot to me and was just wondering what you all think ? Obviously the first concern with increased thirst is diabetes, but as a registered nurse I know the other symptoms and she is not displaying any of these, she has not lost weight, is no different in herself, no fever etc. She has her MMR on friday so I will mention it to the health visitor but what do you think ? thanks

Every Christmas morning, after having our own personal family time, we drive over to my in-laws. The whole family gathers there around the Christmas tree and we open presents together. My 13 month olds nurse and nap time will fall around the time we will be all together and opening gifts, and I sure as heck am not going to seclude myself into the other room and miss my 3 year old son opening gifts. The only person I think will probably be uncomfortable are my sister-in-law and maybe brother in law. My Sis-In-Law has been quite vocal about my choice to continue nursing my son so long.
Anyone else going to be nursing your little one around the tree with family this year? How does you family feel about that.....not that it really matters, your little one being nourished and comforted is much more important!!

My fiance's sister in law and I were pregnant at the same time both us had girls. My daughter is 1 month and 10 days older than her baby. We both breastfed our babies. Her baby died yesterday she had fallen asleep while breastfeeding and she is hearing impaired it was a complete accident. I am unsure if i should take my baby to the funeral with me or if i should pump and find a babisitter. Also what words would help comfort her i have never known anyone who went through this and i would really like to help comfort her.

i mean if the baby needs feeding the mother has to feed him or her, its the most natural thing in the world, its not like shes showing it on purpose that to prove a point or doing indecent exposure, what would you rather have, a crying baby in the middle of the street or in a caffee who is hungary or letting her breat feed it

this is mostly aimed at older women who are offended by the breast feeding.

its not like shes posing, give these people a break

My son was born with the most beautiful black hair. He had a full head of soft black hair. At about 2-3 months his hair started to thin in the back of his head. Then at about 5 months he was completely bald on that spot... Will it grow back? And when?

I think mine should be telekinesis... so I can answer the phone/ mobile that always rings whenever I'm nursing/bathing my son.
And so that I can do stuff (make things move only with my mind) even when my hands are full... ^_^

What should yours be?

The gp did not suggest much other than a steamy room or fresh air. Unfortunately I've been trying both of these for a while now but they don't seem to work

My son is 7 months old and I am still breastfeeding. I did not smoke at all during the pregnancy and I have recently started back about 2 weeks ago... will any cigarette chemicals get to my baby through my breast milk??? I just want to know if it's harmful because if it is, I can stop because I am not a very heavy smoker.

so i was wondering? how long after i each something does my baby get it into her system? is it as soon as the feeding after i ate whatever?
Cuz lately she has been really gassy or acting like she has gas--she seems to be in discomfort in the evening time...Im really hoping it is gas and not colic (my son had colic starting from 2 wks to 4 months) I have tried to go bland with everything i am eating but that is so hard.

What are gas trigger foods that nursing moms should be cautious about eating? I know spicy foods, and dairy...anything else?

My daughter is 2 months old and I've noticed that her tongue is heart-shaped. I've googled it and there really isn't any good info that I've found. Her tongue seems to function fine and it doesn't seem to have any excess tissue under the tongue. I'm just wondering if just having a heart shaped tongue can cause speech problems in the future. If anyone know any good info or if your child has the same type tongue please let me know what to expect. Thanks!!
