A heart shaped tongue (or bifid tongue tip) can be a sign of tongue tie. If she is sucking fine then it should not be anything to worry about in terms of speech development but since you have noticed it then keep an eye on it. If you are able see how far she can poke her tongue out... you may have to wait until she is older so that she knows what you want her to do. Also when she is older, see if she can lick all the way around her lips. You can do this by placing some of her favourite spread around her lips so she will lick it off. If she can do this then it should be fine. If you have a doctors appointment for anything or a visit from/to your child nurse you may want to just ask them. Also, just keep an eye on her sound development and if you are concerned, make an appointment with your local speech pathologist and mention tongue tie (of course this will be at least 3 years away if it is necessary as before then most children have quite unclear speech).
This may seem like a bit of overkill but it is really just keeping an eye on things. I would give you more info but without seeing it myself it is hard.
Basically what you need to know is: if it is not effecting her sucking don't worry for now but keep it in mind incase anything pops up in the future that may be related

Is she able to stick the tip of her tongue out of her mouth? When she cries, see if the very tip is attached by a thin piece of skin behind her bottom gums........this would mean she is "tongue-tied."
Most doctors now recommend waiting before "clipping" the tongue, as the skin attaching it will stretch. If it stretches enough for your daughter to touch the tip of her tongue to her bottom lip, they may not need to clip it. Discuss with your pediatrician and see what he/she recommends after taking a look at her tongue.
My son has had to have his tongue clipped at 18mths. It did stretch since birth, but not quite far enough. He could not stick out the tip to reach his lower lip, and couldn't lick food off of his lips, etc.
To clip the tongue, the doc may spray a local anesthetic in the mouth and then quickly clip it. The area is not very vascular, so there is very little blood, and within 10mins the child can stick out his/her tongue without difficulty. After an hour, he/she should feel well enough to eat and it takes about a week to completely heal. Not a big deal, and very little discomfort involved.
There is a chance that some speech therapy will be required, but not in all cases.

RE:
Heart Shaped Tongue?
My daughter is 2 months old and I've noticed that her tongue is heart-shaped. I've googled it and there really isn't any good info that I've found. Her tongue seems to function fine and it doesn't seem to have any excess tissue under the tongue. I'm just wondering if just...

Sounds like your Dr is what is called tongue tied. Bring it up to her Dr on her next visit. As long as she can suck fine don't worry about it right now. It may need to be clipped when she gets older it is just kind of a wait and see thing.
