Adolescent - September 2006

I am in highschool and I'm trying to look to the future. I make good grades, was tested gifted, but I don't plan to attend a college. Any family or friends will be mad and/or disappointed with my decision. But isn't my future? I get long talks all the time about how college is right for me, but I know that it's not. How do I tell them I'm not going and that is it?

We live in a very small town, and I work two blocks away from the school so I'm easy to get ahold of. All the kids he hangs out with live in town. My son can always use my cell phone if he needs it. I feel a 12 year old kid should have supervision using a phone, internet, MSN, etc. He likes to call girls (already), so without giving my opinion, what do other parents think?

She's not a close friend but her daughter is nearly part of our family. She's hung out with my kids since she was about 8, and she is now 15. Her mother is drunk every day on vodka. She is a single mother and gets state aid, but uses the money for alcohol and drugs. Her daughter knows this but I try to keep things positive. I have hired her to study with my son so she has responsibilities and can earn money. This also keeps both their grades up. I also have her babysit some. This way I can tell her if she hangs out with druggies (there is a meth house 2 doors away from hers), then she can't babysit, and she loves my kids so this works so far. Her mom ignores her, usually doesn't care where she's at or who she's with. I'm always the one checking up on her, giving her money for school functions, paying for her school physical, pool pass, activity pass, and today her school pictures. Her mom has escaped the system many times from child abuse to drugs so that's not the answer. But what is?

his name is nick. well I like him but I have never met him(I know I always say internet dating is stupid, but he lives by me so its not like I cant meet him). he knows that I like him and I think he likes me too. well we met through a mutual friend(kyle and i THINK he likes me(I like him too, but he already has a gf). well, Nick told me that kyle said Im mean and ugly(i have no idea why) and kyle says he never said that. nick and me think that kyle is just jealous of nick(bcuz I like him) and he made it up to make nick hate me. how do I handle this? who do I believe?

Me and my friend are fighting (again) and we don't want to talk to each other because she keeps saying really mean things to me or she will take one of my friends from a conversation or just from being with me just to talk about me behind my backmyufriend has tried to help us settle this but it isn't working. m'kay he is a 5'10, 17 yr. old male. i'll admit he used to be fit yet over the summer he slacked off & wit the help of his diet of sweets, binges, lack of exercise, occasional gluttony etc. etc. he put on around 55lbs. -sighs-

he now weighs around 217+ lbs. (he went from the 55th to the 96th percentile for his weight!) & if he keeps gaining like he has i dunno what to do. the only weird thing is 31in. jeans used to fall off of him. now i bought him a 36 or 38 in. belt & it wont even fit around him completely! he also pronounced lovehandles, back rolls, has stretch marks on his upper thighs & side of his bulging belly (that is starting to hang) he almost have moobs & i can go on & on.

so in your opinion is he fat, just right or underweight? the dr. just advises him to watch what he eats & workout. none of which he chooses to do!!

he's currently @ a boarding school & im worried to death he'll come home bigger than ever!! what shall we do??

m'kay i have an odd facination of becoming fatter then i already am. i am currently a 17 yr. old 5'10 217+lb. male. yet i have a real odd question.

why is my verrry round belly which is @least 46in. just sticking out... i mean it is HUGE it looks as though i'm pregnant yet it just sticks out.

i wanna know why it doesn't hang down that much. (it does when i wear tight pants) i mean i know people who weigh less then me with smaller bellies yet there's hang lower than mine. wtf... it makes no sense to me!!

so does anybody know why this is?? why my belly sticks straight out as opposed to hanging over my waistline. is it becuz i just got fat recently as opposed to the rest of my life when i was thin.

sry for the weird question i just dont get it! :-(

I am a mother of a 15 year old girl. I was cleaning her room and I saw her diaries, I decided to take a little peek, and I discovered something shocking and disturbing, for what I can tell she have being kicking boys between the legs at least from the third grade until now! I had no idea! Her diary is full of stories about it. And the detail, names and dates, everything is registered. By her words I really can tell she loves it, and is almost like a hobby! She describes the boy’s physical and emotional suffering, and how hilarious she thinks it is and that sometimes….she gets wet!!! And that she and her girlfriends keep score!!!, and the different ways to do it, and that boys never hit back and how funny she thinks that is. I feel very sorry for the kids. Now that she is older, most of the times she pretends to be angry at something they did, she makes up excuses. I just could not continue to read anymore, it makes me want to cry.

I'm on the swim team and there is this semi nice girl in my lane. She thinks she's faster than me and goes ahead of me. She can swim, I'll give her that, but she can't swim infront of me. She really is slower than me. I ask her at ever practice if I can go head of her, and she says she faster, when I have to stop at every end of the pool, wait for her to do her turn, then go, and I still run into her! I passed her last night, beat her by a pool lengh and when we finished, she cut infront of me in line! I don't want to be rude, but I'm willing to not go to practice because of this. What should I do??

Today hen I peed it wa yellow and then some of it looked darkish red but, there was nothing on the tissue and nothing in my underwear though. About three days ago it was a BIG brown spot in my undies (or was the brown spot dried up discharge?) I just turned thirteen about two weeks ago.

to carry out the work, he is popular and there do not seem to be any obvious reasons for him not to be there. He goes out for school at 7.30 (more than ample travel time) and arrives home at the correct time, he never goes to registration but goes to a couple of lessons throughout the day. He is driving me mad at the moment and does not seem to respect me or my wishes, I've tried taking him into class but this was not a long term solution and he didn't go when i stopped taking him.
There has been rumours that he has been smoking cannabis but I have spoken to him about this and gone through the pro's and cons etc but he obviously denies it.
He has a brother in yr 8 at the same school and there are no problems with him (despite his poor role model), I'm beside myself with him and don't know what to do - I am currently facing a fine of £50 because of him (if I get it he won't be getting pocket money for a long time) but even him knowing this has not made him revise his ways. advice pls

My daughter will be 13 next month and needs to shave her legs and under her arms but now she is telling me that kids tease her because she does not shave her arms. I never shaved my arms when I was younger nor did any of my friends except the few who swam competitively. Is this something that girls are doing now? I don't want my daughter shaving her arms so she is going to have to learn to combat the teasing - any suggestions.

Well once I had told my mom she other reacted when I told her the boy's name and where did we meet him! I know it not good to lie to your parents that big. But my family (sisters) want to go back again so bad I have to keep it low.But my parents did said we can go again but what if I see that boy who work's there!!! By the way he's 16 years old.
