the way you treat the animals you have complete control and power over is a good indicator to the way you treat people in the same situation. how could you treat a helpless, selfless, loving animal with anything but love?

yes, actually it is. In a way! Some people hate pets, say if they are the pet of a sibling, then the person wouldn't like it. So, that wouldn't have anything to do with a child. Pets are different, they should live outside, they aren't much like a child, but if someone loves and cares for the pet, then chances are that they would be good with children, it just depends.

This could be an indication of two things. One, he is reflecting the way his PARENTS treat him. Two, yes, it can reflect how he will be as an adult around other humans, and animals as well. But he is still young, and you don't say what type of treatment he is showing, nor do you say if this is just a hypothetical question. So....if this is your son, and he has a dog, and is treating it horribly, get rid of the animal, and teach your son better ways of dealing with anger. If he's treating it with love and respect, praise him.

It could be an early sign.... the opposite is true of serial killers.. the earliest sign is animal cruelty.

But, dog's don't test your nerves everyday. They don't manipulate to get their way on the level a human is capable of doing. Dog's don't cry for no reason. Dog's don't bite others for no reason.. usually. Dog's are very simplistic compared to a child. With kids your patience is tested. Just think about what you do to your parents!! I know you know what I am talking about.. if you don't... then look in the mirror. We all have done it!! I still don't listen to my mom.

depends. I LOVE my dog... and will do anything for him. hopefully thats how good of a parent I will be. but, im way more mature than most people my age. if your child isnt as great with his/her pet, then dont be too worried about their parenting skills, they will develope more later and also the connection between pet and owner is not nearly as strong as that between mother and child.

What is he (I'm assuming the person in question is a he) doing? I use to be sorta mean to my dogs when I was younger. I mean it was sorta harmless stuff though..like scaring them or playing tricks on them (yeah...I know...big man out-witting the simple creatures.)

I'd be a bit worried if he was doing really drastic stuff. I heard that Jeffrey Dahmer use to kill and mutilate neighborhood cats when he was younger.
