When Imus declares that 5-D Cheney is still a war criminal, and Hillary still Satan, I find a little much-deserved sanity. Am I the only one, or are others glad Imus is 'back on?'

an exit plan from Iraq that makes sense. Is there any current candidate running for president that will push for these issues, or are they all so wishy-washy that they refuse to take a stand because they don't want to alienate any voter?

Will any of them ever actually answer a question instead of dancing around trying to avoid taking a stand?

What do you think? Are the current frontrunners as worthless as they appear?

Why WAS it ok to display Christmas Scenes / Nativity Scenes on public land , but now it's a 'problem' ?

Were all our founding fathers idiots ?

How bout all the esteemed statesmen of the last 200plus years. . . idiots ?

Or are the complainers now the geniuses ?

Thank you , and Merry Christmas !!

Tend to have personal problems when someone who is religious and holds a government office? Especially if they have, say, a picture of Jesus or a crucifix? If that is what others believe, who is to say that they have to take those down? Not to mention the phrase itself came from a letter from Thomas Jefferson to an aquantence of his. The Constitution only says, AND implies that no religion will be made the religion of the country.

All's I hear them yelling is "Bush sucks" and "Pull out of Iraq". I have not heard their solution or any alternatives to fight terrorism.

"PRINCETON, NJ -- Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats or independents to rate their mental health as excellent, according to data from the last four November Gallup Health and Healthcare polls. Fifty-eight percent of Republicans report having excellent mental health, compared to 43% of independents and 38% of Democrats. This relationship between party identification and reports of excellent mental health persists even within categories of income, age, gender, church attendance, and education."

As in anyone who doesn't agree with homosexuality is a homophobe, anyone who doesn't agree with liberal's opinions is afraid of free speech, anyone who is offended by the atheist holiday tree is intimidated by it. I can't count the number of posts where conservatives are accused of being afraid of things when in reality they just happen to disagree with them.

Republican or Democrats?

2007-12-03 02:24:07 · 12 answers · asked by Twice-Lucky 2

The Electoral College Vote
It is the worst part of the Constitution, producing perverse results again and again. On four occasions there has been such a big gap between the national popular vote and the state-by-state electoral college votes that the guy with fewer real supporters in the country got to be President. It happened in 1824, 1876, 1888 and – most tragically for the world – in 2000.
The Republicans want to change this – but in only one Democrat-leaning state. California has gone Democratic in presidential elections since 1988, and winning the sunny state is essential if the Democrats are going to retake the White House. So the Republicans have now begun a plan to break up California's electoral college votes – and award a huge chunk of them to their side.
They have launched a campaign called California Counts, and they are trying to secure a state-wide referendum in June to implement their plan. They want California's electoral votes to be divvied up not on a big state-wide basis, but according to the much smaller congressional districts. The practical result? Instead of all the state's 54 electoral college votes going to the Democratic candidate, around 20 would go to the Republicans.

If this was being done in every state, everywhere, it would be an improvement. California's forgotten Republicans would be represented in the electoral college, and so would Texas's forgotten Democrats. But by doing it in California alone, they are simply giving the Republicans a massive electoral gift. Suddenly it would be extremely hard for a Democrat ever to win the White House; they would need a landslide victory everywhere else to counter this vast structural imbalance against them on the West Coast.

You can see this partisan agenda if you look at who is behind the campaign. It was set up by Charles "Chep" Hurth III – a Republican donor to Rudy Giuliani. It was drafted by Tom Hiltachk – a Republican attorney. Its signature drive was co-ordinated by Kevin Eckery – a Republican consultant. Its funds were provided by Paul Singer – a Republican billionaire and one of Rudy Giuliani's biggest donors. Its chief fundraiser is Anne Dunsmore – who went there straight from her post as national deputy campaign manager for Giuliani. Seeing a pattern yet?

Conservatives tend to want to remain traditional. Some can misconstrue that as likening to a stagnate society bewildered with bigotry, while others see it as in keeping with the old paradigm, makes us a richer culture.

While LIBS want a "progressive" society to keep us at an advantage over the rest of the world via competition. While getting rid of traditions, and paradigms. This is known to us CONS as secular progressive, and a grave threat to our current ways of life.

Though Im not scared to try something new to see if it works better, Im not just ready to throw in the towel on traditions to see if it is. I do think however, since we are the "melting pot", some changes in traditions will be necessary to achieve the melting of all cultures.
