"PRINCETON, NJ -- Republicans are significantly more likely than Democrats or independents to rate their mental health as excellent, according to data from the last four November Gallup Health and Healthcare polls. Fifty-eight percent of Republicans report having excellent mental health, compared to 43% of independents and 38% of Democrats. This relationship between party identification and reports of excellent mental health persists even within categories of income, age, gender, church attendance, and education."

This liberal believes in work and personal responsibility....right now in this very decade, as well as in the few preceding decades. And my "mental challenges" are certainly no greater than yours. What's your point?

That study asks people to rate their own mental health, it has been posted on here by cons like 5 times, and each time the cons are laughed off the board. Obviously you can't ask people to rate their own mental health and be reliable.
I wrote an indepth response detailing what I think the study was really trying to measure, and i would link you to it, but it seems that the other two cons that posted the question had theirs deleted so that they wouldn't be embarrassed that they had misinterpreted the results, I suggest you do the same.

The poll is self serving. Meaning, Republicans cannot admit there is something wrong with them upstairs. Where as Liberals seem to accept their fallibility's.

Too bad that study doesn't take into account the strong tendency of REpublicans to LIE.

I think that is a Republican coping mechanism. Denial is always the first response to a problem. It's how they so easily avoid the cognitive dissonance associated with their ideology. For example, Republicans believe unlimited growth will solve all our problems. But it would require 4.5 earths for the nations around the world to live with the current standard of living of the U.S. Growth is not unlimited and our ecology can't take all we need.

How else could you explain the inhuman significance of those dramatic differences?

I'd like to see a follow-up, non self-reported study.

Oh, and come to think of it- being depressed about the Bush administration is not abnormal.

I had to double check but there are three questions here.

1) Heavily judgmental people are of course far more likely to view themselves positively. It's part and parcel.

2)No

and

3)Behind the couch

So if you are nuttier than a Macadamia farm in Hawaii and you say you are sane, does it make it so? Perhaps the Conservatives lie more. We have a lot of evidence that some of them are very good at that. Liberals may be simply more honest and if one really looks into the facts rather than opinions of self that the degree of sanity vs. insanity would be very likely pretty equal between them.

Cranial rectal inversion is very difficult to self diagnose.

Yes, a real shocker. Republicans think they are mentally more stable than they actually are. What a stunner! :P

Liberals are not more mentally challenged, in general. They just care about more than just themselves, and caring for other people is mentally more challenging than only caring for yourself.

There, I refuted your assertion from two angles. Still think I'm mentally challenged?
