The forerunners have one Big advantage over anyone else, and that is they belong to a Big, Rich, political party.
Many wealthy people as well as corporations have tons of money tied up in their candidate.
The only way to hopefully get away from this brothel of political you know whats.....is to bring a 3rd party into the system.
It won't happen because Ron Paul doesn't have the big bucks behind him.
The American People then are stuck with the status quo---and the Dems and Reps Love it.
Gee, I wonder why?

You're baiting the Ron Paul supporters with this one. They believe in his cut & run exit strategy for Iraq which is the ONLY reason I can't support him.
Duncan Hunter has it right on every issue you mentioned and almost all the rest as well. His achiles heal is his desire for a constitutional amendment reflecting his anti-abortion views. Liberals will have a real wedge issue here and conservatives will have a problem with him messing with the constitution. As REAL conservatives understand that this should have never been a federal issue and Roe v. Wade was just plain bad law!
The only candidate who can win against any of the Democrat candidates, who also holds your views on the issues you mentioned (and the rest as well) is Fred Thompson.

An exit plan from Iraq does not make sense. Iraq will need our military support for many years to come. The US cannot pull our troops out until Iraq can defend themselves against Iran, otherwise as soon as the US leaves Iran goes in. We are in this thing for the long haul.

Smaller government and taxes lowered even further is lunacy when you have a record budget deficit. And if you want a stronger border, you're going to have to spend money to do it, which means bigger government. The candidate you want not only doesn't exist, the policy set you want is contradictory.

I would say Duncan Hunter also. I guess that is why he is not so popular. People want change then when they see a possibility they get cold feet.
I don't get it!

Where did Democracy go that it needs to return?
GWB has an exit strategy for Iraq already.
As for your other points, every candidate pays lip service to them already.
