OK, the second amendment gives us the right to bear arms. However, as common sense would have it, some people are obviously not supposed to have guns. Mentally retarded people, the Virginia Tech guy, convicted felons. For the good of the entire nation, we have selective gun control procedures put into place against these people.

We remove the rights of a few people to protect the rights of everyone else. And, for the most part, everyone is happy.

But why can't we do that with other Amendments? OK, I agree with everyone having free speech, but can't we just take groups like NAMBLA and just shut them up? They do just about as much good as an insane person with a gun, so why not simply remove their right?

I remember playing outside when I was a kid. My parents would let me go all day and not even check on me. When I had my children, I let them do pretty much the same thing, but I kept a little closer eye on them because the world was just getting crazy. But my children are almost ready to have kids, and I fear that they won’t even be able to let their children out of the house, there are so many crazy people out there.

Can’t we say that all people have freedom of speech, EXCEPT CHILD MOLESTERS?
Can’t we say “no cruel and unusual punishment”, EXCEPT FOR CHILD MOLESTERS?

We put restrictions on the 2nd Amendment, why not the rest?

I just asked a question about gun ownership, and was told that we should outlaw cars and even hands...because those kill people too. So I was wondering, since cars and hands have purposes other than killing, is this really an appropriate analogy? And what purposes other than killing, do guns have?

Doesn't it seem silly that schools are getting renovated, yet students are still reading the same textbooks their parents used when they were in school?

I ask you, what should come first in priority? because sometimes both cannot be taken cared of at the same time, I think public schools have made that obvious.

what are your thoughts?

42% of our troops are coming back from Iraq with mental problems and many are not getting any treatment. Mental health experts are leaving the service in droves due to overwork and stress. Is this yet ANOTHER facet of going to war that this administration didn't even think about? Are they that dilusional? Are they that uncaring that they didn't even think about our brave men and women and what they would need after being in a combat zone?

I guess it's no surprise since none of them came close to anything approaching combat. This group of clowns just don't care! They don't care about you, me, or especially our troops!

I am really not understanding who in this country believes that the majority of illegal immigrants are going to stand up and say "Hola. Estoy aqui. Put me in the back of the line because I dont' want to live in America for free and live off of the LEGAL citizens anymore. Heck, I even want to pay back taxes!"

How many will actually 'fess up and how far will America be run into the ground if this bill ever passes?

If this goes through, it will cost us BIG TIME! Welcome to the United States of Mexico. Adios.

Try not to get into any type of debate with them, because they'll never hear your side of the story and if they do, they will continually tell you you're wrong. Often times, conservative people will try to make YOU feel insecure and at fault. He/she will do this in an attempt to demonstrate control over the situation. If this happens to you, do not get mad at all, thats what they want from you. Instead consciously understand their belittling actions and see their intended conclusion from their perspective. Act wise and in control, but don't escalate the situation by responding in an angry or hostile manner.
Enter an encounter with a conservative person with the strong and confident realization that you are well and strong. There is nothing they can say or do that can undermine you. Your sense of confidence and self-worth will prohibit you from being vulnerable to a conservative person's total inability to relate to others and the sometimes noxious or cruel things that they say .

as anyone paying attention already knows, this is the end game for liberal leftist socialist oligarchs. a world without borders with certain elites in charge of a one world government. but given that living organisms have a penchant for their own kind, whether animal, vegetable, or mineral, is this even remotely possible or achievable? evolution has instilled in all living things, quite a healthy wariness and mistrust of different living things and we have overwhelming evidence that even though cooperation and tolerance between species or races may be achievable, separation is not. every living thing has a nest, or territory, or area or yard that is delineated by some method or other and guarded quite fiercely and this does not change except by force.
so, do the liberal leftist socialist oligarchs not realize this, or are they going to try and use force at some point to achieve their unattainable goal?

So should we stop selling guns to people? And before you give me the 'they will just use a knife or a hammer or a baseball bat' believe me, I would rather you get up close and personal if you are going to take my life...is there a difference between guns and other weapons? If not, should we allow people to own bombs and outlawed poisons? The right to bear arms does not specify which arms...

I have noticed, that some people believe that statement to be true.

Am I reading this right or is that some kind of "factual common sense" (in quotes to represent sarcasm)?

Any body in Yahoo! Land, please explain.

I had no idea that government handouts created wealth. I thought it was the individual.

I've asked a few, but in depth good questions, mostley about immigration. I would have to say 90% of the answers I recieved were just nonsense or from people who do not have a clue, or have been brainwashed. If We... ( People with common sense), cannot convince the other idiots on this site, how can we convince the idiots in our government?

Who should we blame for the condition our country is in, the politicians or the idiots that vote them into office?

Tell me what is wrong with having people speak the native language while in another country?

If I got to any other country I don't demand they accommodate my lack of understanding their language.

You don’t think that is true go to France and demand the waiter speak French to you and see what your soup tastes like when you get it.

I think it is because it is easier for them to believe "someone" is in control. The weak minded might have comfort in the fact that Bush was behind 9/11 and not just 19 guys, over half of which didn't even know they were on a suicide mission.

I think the world according to a conspiracy theorist has order, so therefore is safer than a world that is more chaotic and weird stuff just happens...

Opinions?

Well, to make things short, I would just like to ask. If you find fault in your organization or how the leaders would react in any situation which you think is totally wrong, what would you do? Will your loyalty make you shut up for the rest of their term? Or make a move to ask them what you think was wrong? Should leaders accept their men's point of view?
