Seeing as this is not about pride or greed the question is moot.

You make a good point. I see all these ribbons on cars, trucks, etc..., every day with the words, " I support the troops", so one day I asked several people what that ribbon meant to them & how were they "supporting the troops"?
You would really be surprised at the number of people that couldn't even answer that question, or answering that, the reason they had that ribbon on their vehicle was because "everyone else was putting them on their vehicles."
I also asked them do they ever write letters, send care packages, read the newspaper or watch the news to keep up with what's going on in the Middle East & how many service members the country had lost, and yet hardly any of them could even answer that question.
So I asked them again.....so you say you support the troops how?

If you're REALLY so concerned for the troops, maybe you should check out the pay scale for the average lower enlisted -- even with the "benefits," it's at or below poverty. Writing your representative and demanding a "Trickle Up" pay raise would REALLY be helpful. In the past, all pay raises have been trickle down, so the guys at the top who need it least get the most. As a retiree, my pension is less than $1000 a month. I still have to pay for my medical and could not afford dental. So much for the promises you keep. Perhaps our military should keep it's promises to you as well as you have to us?

Supporting the troops means respecting the men and women in our military. You do not have to support the mission, but rather respect and support the individuals. If they have a tough job to do, they have a tough job to do. Avoiding war, while preferable, is not always the solution. Let me say that again. Avoiding war, while preferable, is not always the solution.

Yes, but only if those were the reasons. Instead, the reasons were for world stability that would increase national security.
