If your complaining and blaming the oil companies, take a look at how much more the government takes. They do nothing and make much more pure profit per gallon than the oil companies do. Pay up if you want to drive. That is just the way it is. If it gets to bad, people will stop buying as much as they do and the demand will fall. The gas prices will then follow.

I have no idea why Americans complain about the gas prices. I live here in the States and my family lives in Italy; they have been paying more for gas for a very long time, not just for a few years. We Americans have nothing to complain about. So what if you have to pay $3 a gallon? My family has to pay around $6. We Americans have choices: stop buying gas guzzling cars like SUVs (and similar big cars); buy smaller cars (easier on gas); walk when you can (it helps the environment, too); carpool.

This is just human nature. What I don't get is that those that advocate for alternative fuels are complaining. The only way alternative fuels(or more likely alternative engines) will come about is when the price of gas exceeds the price of the alternative. They should be rejoicing that the price is rising as it will lead to less use and more efficient vehicles. Yet they complain.

Because the price of a gallon of gasoline has more psychological effect on people than economic effect.

Don't buy your gas in terms of dollars/gallon; rather, buy your gas in terms of dollars/mile. Then, figure out what *real* gas mileage of your auto: let the tank run dry, buy exactly 10 gallons of gasoline, then drive and measure your mileage until the tank runs dry again. After that, buy only as much gas as you need.

Anyway....I hope the people who demanded cleaner fuels are pleased with themselves--the higher prices are directly related to the cleaner formulations. Gasoline was $0.99/gallon in the summer of 2002.

The way I look at is either pay for your gas or stay home. It is just a number. If people want to complain about something complain about the amount of money you make..lol.

Media frenzy telling you so.

For some reason gas at $3.00 something a gallon is a crisis but bottled water for $8.00 a gallon is fine.

They've got their panties in a bunch because they're morons who voted for liberals who PROMISED gas prices would instantly drop if they got elected. They couldn't follow through, so people have realized they made HUGE mistakes by electing dumba$$es into office & they're just generally cranky because they don't like when people point out it was their own stupid fault we're in this mess. Cry babies - find somewhere else to whine, nobody wants to hear you.

I don't like paying high prices for anything but I am not willing to say it's Bush's fault.
