When asked at his press conference yesterday why he doesn't hold Gonzalez accountable, Bush said that there is no evidence that Gonzalez has done anything illegal. Isn't there overwhelming evidence that Gonzalez is totally incompetent? Didn't Bush's acceptance of Rumsfeld's incompetence prevent, or at least postpone, any meaningful changes to Rummy's failed efforts in Iraq? What is it about today's conservatives that causes them to be so harsh and critical of the of failings of their fellow working class Americans, but so accepting of the failings of their leaders?

is terrorism winning? Bush said that they want to destroy our way of life. Here we sit tearing each other to bits just because we have different perspectives. What is it going to take for us as a nation to work together again?

What is the secret behind the success of American universities. I know that US education is actually failing, students rank 26th out of 35 industrialized countries. But when it comes to higher education, US universities are always the top choices. More funding? or because of those smart Jewish professors from Israel?

I received a Republican Party census questionnaire in the mail this morning and am shocked and disgusted with what questions were asked and how they were worded.

For example under homeland and security question (3) asks,

"Do you support air strikes against any country that offers safe harbor or aid to individuals or organizations committed to further attacks on America?"
I thought that this question was ridiculous and dangerous seeing how republican administration might skew the information to actually attack a country that is suspected of "harboring" organizations who might want to attack America.

What are your thoughts about this question?
Question (5) asks, “Should homeland defense forces use profiling to protect our nation?”

Has anyone else received one of these census questionnaires and is the RNC trying to monitor how stupid the American public might be this next presidential election?

My Grandfather has been deceased for about 8 years and we get postal mail 2-3 times a week for him, plus he has never lived in this state...

This might be a dumb question but is there any way to stop the mail or at least lessen it? Maybe a list to put his name on or a business/service that can help?

TIA

Bill Clinton was pilloried for his affair with Monica and impeached for lying about it. Many people in European countries had the attitude of "so what?" when discussing his affair. I tend to agree; I feel that as long as consenting adults are involved, it's nobody's business but that of the people involved. I do draw the line on hypocrites who talk about "family values" who then go on to have extramarital affairs or politicians who are anti-gay and who then turn out to be closeted homosexuals. But, as far as I'm concerned, I don't care if the President does it with sheep as long as he's competent at the job. Agree or disagree?

Case in point - the fact that Clinton fired all 93 U.S. attorneys when he took office is all over the internet, as a rebuttal to the Bush attorney firing scandal. They whine about how nobody cared then. But they don't actually go out and find out WHY nobody cared. It was a non-event, because that's the normal procedure, to pick new attorneys at the beginning of a president's term. Most presidents do that! It's only firing them while they're doing their jobs - for political reasons - that is a scandal. How many more of their opinions are based on simple, sometimes willful, ignorance?

These are the kinds of issues conservatives should be pushing harder on, instead of attacking teachers and affordable healthcare. It's one area where I'm not with liberals.
How about the judge who let the rapist go free? Delete.
I don't give a Fudgesickle if we don't pay for a translator for a man who speaks a rare language from Africa, if he raped a child. Getting rid of the insanity in our "justice" system that pays big bucks for a psychiatrist and judge to declare John Cooey not mentally retarded.

why do liberals want Bush's aids to testify under oath, it's a slippery slope, if Bush loses his power of executive priveledge the people might expect their ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES to be accountable for their actions, they're probably telling the truth, they're just not comfortable swearing to it in case their testimony should become "confusing"?

From the New York Times:

First Father: Tough Times on Sidelines

By SHERYL GAY STOLBERG

Published: August 9, 2007

WASHINGTON, Aug. 8 — There are times in the life of George Herbert Walker Bush, the 41st president of the United States and father of the 43rd, that people, perfect strangers, come up to him and say the harshest things — words intended to comfort but words that wind up only causing pain.

“I love you, sir, but your son’s way off base here,” they might say, according to Ron Kaufman, a longtime adviser to Mr. Bush, who has witnessed any number of such encounters — perhaps at a political fund-raiser, or a restaurant dinner, a chance meeting on the streets of Houston or Kennebunkport, Me. They are, he says, just one way the presidency of the son has taken a toll on the father.

“It wears on his heart,” Mr. Kaufman said, “and his soul.”

The major figures and demographics that comprise those who think we should pull out of Iraq includes: Spoiled narcissistic elitists who live in a fantasy world, totalitarian dictators from third world countries, and those who hate America and have publically announced its desire to destory us.
Is this significant? Seriously. Oh, I should also include Al Qaeda and its ilk to the list as well.

For example, on a discussion of universal health care, a neocon will inevitably write "I don't want to pay for other people's health care" (even though they do so now if they have insurance) or "it will destroy freedom of choice." Other examples: invoke the evil spirit of Bill Clinton by mentioning that he was impeached or had an affair with Monica; mention France in some disparaging way (e.g., "why don't you live in France with all the other surrender monkeys?").

Give as many examples as you want, mentioning the context if necessary to make the question more understandable. Go!
