See? Stuff like that double posting that just happened.

This format is the worst.

Hmm....sorry, not familiar with "agame."

And it is something of a paradox, isn't it? There was no censorship, no deleting of posts, so then there was a handful of infernal TROLLS who kept interrupting and posting the same posts over and over again, no matter HOW many times you posted facts and sites and articles to debunk their propaganda.

But the format was much more of a "discussion" type atmosphere, whereas on here it's sort of like "drive-by posting."

Not much community spirit in that.

*sigh* Yes, I miss those boards. But, I do NOT miss the jerks.

But hey, that's life, eh?

To "Troublemaker" :

"deleterious?" Perhaps. But I think not. I'm a great fan of the written word. But you also have a point with the "not being immediately noticed" thing.
Although I'd like to think that I do not fall into that grouping of "instant gratification" neanderthals.

On the message boards, there was easy back and forth, it was easy to "have a conversation" with several people at a time. And I really learned a lot, there were certain posters who routinely posted the most current news articles, bills in Congress being debated, news that had JUST happened, from sources all over the world. It was SO great. An enormous amount of information from people with very different perspectives.

That's what I miss. Let's face it - most of us are.....shall we be polite and say "intellectually lazy?"....and to just BOOM have the info right there in front of you, to go to many sites and consume, consume, consume the news...

Instant gratification can have a deleterious effect on how people view the worthiness of the written word .

While you may not receive that feeling of community in this forum you may be more well received then you imagine .

Its not noticed immediately and this might be the problem people suffer from asking and answering questions here .

I was never on the message boards but I know what you mean about this format and "drive-by posting". Maybe it's the point system but I think a lot of people really don't think too much about what they post. They just write something and then move on. I would like something with a bit more discussion. I love a good, well informed and vigorous argument/debate.
But then again, the way some people get so narked and take it so personally when they don't agree with what I write .......... the drive-by doesn't seem so bad!

I miss the even older yahoo chat. I had lots of great contacts and we enjoyed it until the trolls took over and jammed all the rooms with their dividian lies. This will be a thing of the past soon too. Debate is dead in America, it's who can yell the loudest.

Me and I miss it. Yep agame was a trip. Somewhere in the back of my mind I always wondered what he had tapped into. Or what tapped into him.

Not me. I was too busy running a pornographic Yahoo group to mess with message boards.

I'm only here now because I'm ducking work I should be doing on writing and programming a hentai sim date game.

I wandered by them a few times, but for the most part I spend my time at the Democratic Underground.
