I know a bunch g, but I meet them via my profession. My mother turned in a guy who faked a disability (back injury). He was so happy with the large amount of tax-free money he got every month, he couldn't help but to brag about it. This guy was making his own home, snow mobiling, and as active as anyone else in the pack. Mom reported the guy and he was soooo nailed. I luv's ya, mum! Surprisingly, she votes democrat, but that's because the union has buttered her bread all her life. Each time her property tax goes up, and she see's why and who's responsible...she gets ever closer to the dark side :)

socrates...If you can explain how the CEO of Mobile got to be CEO while being completely dependent on government (and it makes sense), you get "best answer"!!! I think he worked a job to get there, though.

Pacer...it's called "working under the table"...so they only benefit from our taxes...and don't pay in themselves. Yes, on the surface, they seem smarter than us, don't they. BTW...they may be drug dealers too...don't make them mad in a personal way.

kevorkian, the business world, or even McDonalds...requires a person to work on their schedule...I can see great flexibility doing the "madame cleo" thing.

sapphira...that's somewhat surprising, because Mississippi and neighboring states have a reputation for paying on the "low end" for these individuals. I'd move to Cali or New York if I wanted to scoop up the free money by the barrel full.

I took a friend to the welfare office just a few years ago because their car died and their car loan was so high they needed temporary help just for food for their twins and this really happened; While sitting there waiting to see a case worker, you realize not many people around you can even speak English, the cell phones are ringing, and the teenagers in designer clothes with new shoes and real gold jewelry are blasting rap music on a boom box that cost more than your home stereo. How come these kids aren’t in school? You finally see a case worker that says sorry we can’t help you, sell your home or move to a cheaper smaller apartment. There are many ways to cut your living expenses.

Lock your car doors and take a ride threw the welfare housing projects, a decade ago most of their parking slots were empty or full of $500 junkyard cars. Today the cars parked there cost more than I make in a year. The money that paid for these vehicles, clothes, jewelry etc... Is not made legally and these people obviously know how to work the system to live there for free! Who wouldn't like to have real gold jewelry and live for free while eating steak dinners?

Yes. Though, while nominally able-bodied, and admittedly 'gaming the system,' they were not the sorts who would easily make it in the conventional business world. For instance, one such person I knew eventually got off SSI - when he became a telephone psychic...
