Just a question is, why is there so much arguement over bisexual marriages?

Like, I'm a kid (that might account for my lack of knowledge) and some friends are bisexual/gay, and I don't understand why people are argueing over these things. (It seems kinda controlling to me, that people care so much about who marries who.)

Why?

I have a question about the eighth amendment (amendment regarding excessive bail and fines, cruel and unusual punishment)

How are you ensured that or guaranteed that you will be protected under the eighth amendment? What is the MECHANISM that exists?

For example, say if you stole something really small, but your bail was set at $100,000. How are you ensured that you will be protected under the eighth amendment against this excessive bail? (I was told that the answer was NOT 'calling a lawyer or a bondsman'.)

Thank you!

Are weapons and the private defense industry similar to critical utilities such as power companies where their profits are regulated? The primary and perhaps only consumers are the US government and perhaps other governments. ---What role should government have in subsidizing research for these businesses?

Not really. Our legal system defines "legal" as anything that is not illegal. In other words EVERYTHING is legal until legislation is passed outlawing it.

It's funny to hear fake conservatives aka "libertarian neo-cons" saying this then two seconds later saying "liberals want to legislate your life". Well, which is it? Are we a nation of laws, or a nation which prefers not to have/need them?

With all the advances in communications, hypersonic travel, globalization, etc I think it's inevitable that in a few centuries the world will be one culture without borders. I know people are reluctant sometimes because of national pride and stuff but it is inevitable that our planet will unite with one government and a culture that is a combination of all the cultures. Hopefully the World Government will value individual freedoms and democracy. No one wants a worldwide fascist or communist police state!

I really just want to know when it will be voted on...

If you plan on giving me your church's opinion on how it interferes with Christians "rights" then please save it...

This bill only adds sexuality, gender, and disability to the laws that already protect race and religion.
Read the bill for yourself here http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-1592 before spouting any conspiracy theories about "added pork" or "thought police".

Thank You.

Sen Tim Johnson's brain surg 6 mths ago had left him incapacitated and unable to perform his duties to this country. Several weeks ago he was once again hospitalized. While I respect his service to the nation, as one of 100 (National) Senator's he has a responsibilty to the nation that is currently being carried out by staffers. I think it's time for him to step back.
