& yes big businesses belong to the usa. but honestly california has enough people to survive we could replace verizon with horizon, and many nations start out with practically nothing and they eventually evolve. keep in mind the USA was nothing either when it started and today is the most powerful nation. California can survive and it is U.S which would suffer. all i am saying is companies will grow and lets not forget we have many of the top companies in the US founded in california.

Interesting.

California would have the 3rd largest economy in the world if it were an independent country. We'd have the most olympic medal winners. The most produce. The best filmmaking and television producing. Great universities. (And Arnold as president??? Or Pelosi???)

But, could we develop a military powerful enough to defeat the U.S. military? Would Mexico try to reclaim us and would we go to war with them? I think the argument ends there. We couldn't just take over the military bases here because most of those military guys are from out of state and would be loyal to the U.S.

Besides, Southern California is mostly desert (we keep pretending it's not). We get our water from the Colorado river. They could dam us off completely. There goes the farming. There goes SoCal communities. We'd have to go to war over water.

Although I live in Cali, I wasn't born there. So if it became it's own country, I would leave. The last I remember, if Southern California were it's own country, it would be ranked number 7 in the world. But then again, if cali did become it's own country, it wouldn't survive for very long because all the big businesses there belong to the USA and would relocate somewhere else in the country.

Yeah, I have been saying this for years. I mean what a bunch of *******s they have there. I lived there for 5 years and I just had to get out and see if there were any normal people in this world. Guess what, ther are. Yeah, let em be on thier own, let em take care of all the illegals instead of dumping the costs on the rest of the US. While were at it, lets include Texas and New Mexico. That way, 95 % of all the ilegals will be taken care of by thier own countries.

No it could not support itself and it would eventually crumble.
1) We don't have enough of our own water supply to sustain our existence as a country.
2) We do not have the raw materials to maintain industry.
3) Our infrastructure is inadequate to maintain our existence.
4) Our military force is to small to protect our borders.
5) Who in the world community would recognize California as a nation?

Gee...I already thought California was its own little Country? Besides...half the State is already Illegal Amigo's,and it's half the Lib population of the U.S.A. Wouldn't it be better for the San Andreas fault,to decide the moment of Separation?!!!

it may have a strong economy; tourism, movie industry, and agriculture but it (s. calif) has no natural resources.... water!

so if we were to pay (n. calif) for just the water alone, we would be one of the poorest countries in no time!

California would not survive financially. They have too much government spending.
