Of course its in our national interest to regulate immigration. And the currentmessis a perfect exampleof what can happen when you don't--12million undocumented aliens and all the collateral problems. Because we haven't regulated or managed immigration for years.

However-- the real problem is WHY we don't have a workable immigration policy/system. The long and short o fit is that political rhetoric and pandering to specialnterests (that profit at the expense of the national welfare) and equally invidiouus catering to racism and bigotry have --and continue to block responsible immigration reform.

This entire problem could be fixed--permanently--in a few weeks--months if you include time for implementation--in any of several ways that would benefit evryone--Americans and immigrants alike (except the speicial interests and bigots). As it is, I'm afraid this whole mess is going to drag on for still more years.

Yes, because weak border polices present a threat to national security, especially in a post 9/11 world. The logis is fairly simple, if thousands of people can easily penetrate our borders, regardless of thier intent; think how easily potential terrorists can sneak across the border.

To clarify, when I say terrorists, I don't necessarily mean Arabs or Muslims. The fact is that people from over 180 diffferent countries are detained. Mexico gets a brunt of the blame because they share our border.

The ironic part of this whole issue is that Mexico has a zero tolerance policy along it southern border with Guatamala. I have no problem with immigrants, but if people want to come here then do it legally.

Oh yes, we must regulate immigration!

For all the reasons that the liberals complain of, resources, overpopulation, sprawling urban destruction, and then some.

This country has got to focus on this country right now. Sealing up our borders (all of them) would go a long way toward securing our lives and our way of life.

Positively!
The pro Illegal immigration group are a bunch of leftists that want to dilute America to the status of a third world country.
Their intention is to create a one-world government system and to do that, they must diminish America.
They can't see how it is better to bring the living standards of the rest of the world up to the level of the U.S.A.
With the elimination of Amereica as we know it, the immigration problem will be resolved because no one will want to come here any more.

i would have to say yes, keeping criminals out should be a priority for any country, but also not to treat everyone that comes in as a criminal, 95% of inmigrants come to your country(i live in mexico) looking for a better way of life, they could be chinise,japanese,mexican,colombian..whatever.
ask any of them..did you come to the usa to work and make some money so u can have your own home, car, bank account?..or did u come to rob banks and break into homes?...of course they gp to follow the "american dream"...but once they use labels like "illegal aliens" the dream is taken away from them, and if u don't accept this peoples at schools and let them work they will turn to stealing..and that leads to violence and so on because they have to find a way to eat and live.

educating the ones u have, getting rid of the labels, and letting people into ur country to work and get an education is the best thing it could probably happen to your country, that is already hated by everyone outside the usa for being mostly racist...

last thing...who is going to decide the inmigration bill?..a bunch of people that came from inmigrants?...
example...Dem. Conference Vice Chair
Charles E. Schumer(D-NY)...german decendance,Minority Leader
Mitch McConnell...irish (R-KY),Speaker
Nancy Pelosi..italian (D-CA-8th),DCCC Chair
Chris Van Hollen..holland (D-MD-8th)..and the list goes on and on.

so americans take the country away from native americans, claim it as their own and now they decide who goes in or out???...how messed up!!!
