We need to find somewhere for my mother, but cannot afford what most assisted living facilities charge. She cannot come live with us - we don't have the space or the time she needs to devote to her care. She gets some social security, but it's not even close. Is there some sort of financial aid for this kind of thing?

We live in Florida if someone knows something that is state specific.

Yes, this is a politics and government question! Many, if not all, recent first ladies have had their own "issue agenda," such as Lady Bird Johnson with beautifying America and Nancy Reagan with Just Say No to drugs. Which was your favorite? Who had the most positive effect on society? I'm interested to hear if anyone may have had a different opinion of a first lady than of her husband.

Thanks!

Don't complain about gangs turf wars, or about 80% of crazed burglars breaking into your house, or about 80% of street muggings, or about of the cost of warehousing our drug related offenders who are about 80% of all people in jail.
Don't curse the maffia whose "right to profit" and grow you greatly enhance with our "War on Drugs".
Don't cry over our dead soldiers in Afghanistan killed with the profits of the poppy crops that filled the coffers of the Taliban and Al Qaeda. Just try going to sleep with that conscience

There are a lot of problems in society, and a lot of corruption within the power structure, making it seem unlikely that the problems will ever be addressed.

Is reform enough? Or do we need a revolution and a new system and new power structure?

Abortion laws were repealed mainly because women were massively disregarding the anti-abortion laws. Anti-abortion laws were a failure. Illegal abortions were endagering women's lives.
Drug prohibition laws are massively being disregarded. Drugs are available everywhere in many cases just a few steps away from police stations. Tainted drugs are unduly endangering the lives of many users, specially first time users. Gangs, maffia, terrorists all owe their riches to our anti drug legislation. Shouldn't society give up and accept to legalize all drugs. Wouldn't it be reasonable to ruin gangs, maffia and terrorists?

If you want to RUN America, you should have an AMERICAN name. Not something like Doorknob El Fiddel Al Jazira. We're just asking to elect a terrorist with a name like that.

Sounds like Osama Bin Laden to me. Besides, we're not ready for a black president anyway. But I'd vote for him before a woman! Guliiani is gonna win. Get a clue Osama.

In Ohio, they've recently passed a smoking ban in public places, but have not decided yet how to enforce it. So for now, most people are ignoring it. How do other states enforce the ban? Are there fines, do you get a ticket? If smoking occurs in a bar, is the bartender also subject to a fine?

I have seen many insightful answers on here about how nobody can live on the current minimum wage and how the government needs to do something about it.

These envious amounts of logic and compassion have me inspired.

Therefore, I think we should lobby the government to raise the minimum wage to $30/hour. That's over $60,000 a year. Then nobody in this whole country would be poor.

What do you think???
