Doesn't that seem like a slick way of trying to force people to agree with you out of fear of being labeled a bigot? Is that truly tolerant?

So what's different by calling liberals "Anti-American"? It's a slick way of getting people to shut their mouths when they disagree with the way things are, which is our constitutional right.

It doesn't. Although certain anti-progressive stances - the conservative agenda of actively denying gays the right to marry or have a legally-recognized civil union, for example - have racist or homophobic causes at their root.

The way your question is worded, it is clear you don't want a thoughtful answer - you just want conservatives to back you up and liberals to get offended - but as a liberal trying to get away from the completely unhelpful "Us vs. Them" mentality that many conservative news organizations have worked to set up in this country, I'll give you one. Disagreeing with a liberal doesn't make you a racist or a homophobe, unless the reason for the disagreement is based on racist or homophobic arguments. Which, unfortunately, a lot of conservative rhetoric is.

My daddy a long time ago told me you are who you hang with. If you hang with a group of thieves then there is a perception that you are a thief. Likewise, if you identify with conservatives then there is a good chance that you discriminate based on gender, sexual orientation or race. The labels of tax and spend liberals is put on all liberals, baby killers are all liberals which is just about as true as all conservatives are homophobic, raciest. It does go both ways is my point. While neither is probably not true of all, it is the perception of it that floats to the top.

homophobe in basic terms ability someone who isn't for gays, the gay time table, or absolutely everyone gays don't love. you may be sure this in a 20 minute websearch, and that the be conscious used to signify concern. that is elementary to throw hate words like homophobe or bigot or racist. human beings regularly do not imagine a lot.

It's pretty sad the way we quarrel between the parties. We are all in favor of our country being safe and remaining free so why can't we all work together. It makes me angry to watch some of our politicians act like children.....they pout, whine and squabble. The name calling is ridiculous. I disagree with liberals on some issues, however, I am not racist nor homophobic. It has gotten to the point of being ridiculous and embarrasing. We are one nation, under God......let's act that way!

I guess if I had to consider myself one way or another, I would be a "liberal". I wouldn't think you were a racist or "homophobe" (which isn't actually a word, anyway) if you disagreed with me. I'd say you had opinions.

The thing to remember is, not everyone in a certain category is going to think one way.

I KNOW that all conservatives aren't pro-life, against gay marriage, etc.

It's hard, but you have to try not to classify people.
Politicians aren't a good group to look at when making such assumptions - they're all liars.

Why does disagreeing with Conservatives make you a Liberal?

Because the best way to stifle genuine debate is to slap a label on your opponent. (Ad hominem attacks)

It proves that they have no legitimate argument with which to reply.
