Yes, this is a politics and government question! Many, if not all, recent first ladies have had their own "issue agenda," such as Lady Bird Johnson with beautifying America and Nancy Reagan with Just Say No to drugs. Which was your favorite? Who had the most positive effect on society? I'm interested to hear if anyone may have had a different opinion of a first lady than of her husband.

Thanks!

I really just like Laura Bush's constant support of her husband and her dedication to literacy and education. I firmly believe the place of the 'first spouse' is NOT to have their own agenda - after all, they were not the one elected to office - but rather, to either devote themselves to furthering a cause of their choice or to publically support their spouse and his/her issues in a non-political way. Hilary Clinton failed miserably at this.

I loved the way Hillary Clinton worked hard and kept her and her husbands promise that ALL Americans would have health insurance within 90 days of Clinton taking office. What a relief it was to see such a major promise honored and how wonderful for all the poor people who cannot afford insurance and health care!

I hope she will be making some more monumental promises soon to make Americans life easier and more fulfilling.
