Wouldn't it have been so much nicer for them if they could have hidden Foley's antics until after the November elections?

Yes, I know he said it was to the worker's advantage, but, I can remember when we used to get paid overtime for more than eight hours a day. Just because you dress a pig in a dress, doesn't make it any less of a pig.

A thousand years from now, if we 'survive', what are going to be the colossus's and sphinx's of our culture? (and even if we don't survive, what will the aliens find...)

So far on my list are:
-The Internet
-The American National Debt
-The Hubble Telescope
-The Wal Mart Corporation
-????

Just wondering...

Because it's the same smirky look that is commonly worn on the faces of Jerry Falwell, Ann C and George W, Mama Barbara, Kathleen Harris and many others of a similar stripe.

It seems to me that their facial expressions veer from extremely tight, to smirky and the occasional photo-op pose when they do this fake looking all teeth smile that looks for all the world as if you are staring into the mouth of a great white shark.

SO..why do well known publicity hogging Neo-Cons have this smirky look to them?

Doesn't look good for mid-term elections.
This is as bad as it gets. Foley was at the forefront of child protection issues, and it turns out he's a run-of-the-mill pervert, no better than the ones caught in the Dateline Specials, which he ironically praised several months ago.

If he were a Democrat, I would seperate the two - his perversions are not indicative of any political slant, however -
what is disturbing is who knew what and when? The more this sordid tale unfolds, the more evidence comes to light that his indiscretions were an open secret, and for whatever reason, were ignored.
I voted for Bush, but if there was a definite conspiracy of silence regarding this issue, heads should role from the highest reaches of Pres. Bush's party.

In the U.S. our country has its own internal culture war going on. Secular progressives pervert Christianity and are trying to dismantle the noble principles our country was founded on. We do not like the ungodly ways they have corrupted our nation. Spreading the false belief there is a separation of church and state. Freedom needs to be tempered with responsibility. People have forgotten this. They pervert true liberty for their own selfish reasons. The Founding Fathers called these people "domestic enemies" of liberty. They realized this country could not be overthrown militarily but internally by corruption of its principles. Freedom of religion not freedom from religion is what they taught.

Many people have left the Democratic party because of this and because they put their party above being an American. The party is not what it use to be. Bill O'Reilly came out with a new book CULTURE WARRIOR. What do you think of it?

If the guy was 18 why should it matter?? Those who are conservative please don't try to spin it and say that this is just a liberal thing, if someone from the liberal side did the same thing the conservatives would be all over it. Why is it so easy to distract the American public? We should be focusing on issues such as terrorist and poverty and what to do about Iraq not about who this guy chose to sleep with.

3000 American civilians killed by international terrorism in American history
vs. 3000 American civilians killed by homeland crime each year

45,000 Iraqi civilians killed by Americans in Iraq
vs. 4000 international terrorists killed by American armed forces
(appx 11:1 ratio)

45,000 Iraq civilians killed in the Iraq war by American troops
vs. 3000 American civilians killed by international terrorism
(15:1 ratio)

and finally,
60% of Iraqis approving of attacks against American soldiers

What do you make of these numbers?

If you think it did, you should read it. The Emancipation Proclamation did not free the slaves, and it did not outlaw slavery.

In Spetember of 1862, Lincoln issued a decree that all slaves in those states that are still in rebellion against the Union on January 1 1863 would be considered free. He outlined the definition of what it meant to be in rebellion. Then he gave the South 100 days to give up their fighting. If they did, they would be allowed to keep their slaves since the decree would not apply to them.

The Emancipation Proclamation was the decree that defined the sections of the country that were still in rebellion (most of them) and to which the earlier decree applied. A few small areas stopped fighting and kept their slaves.

This entire process, therefore, was an attempt to persuade the South to give up the war and keep their slaves in return.

The fact that the South did not is evidence that slavery was not their primary reason for going to war.
