In the U.S. our country has its own internal culture war going on. Secular progressives pervert Christianity and are trying to dismantle the noble principles our country was founded on. We do not like the ungodly ways they have corrupted our nation. Spreading the false belief there is a separation of church and state. Freedom needs to be tempered with responsibility. People have forgotten this. They pervert true liberty for their own selfish reasons. The Founding Fathers called these people "domestic enemies" of liberty. They realized this country could not be overthrown militarily but internally by corruption of its principles. Freedom of religion not freedom from religion is what they taught.

Many people have left the Democratic party because of this and because they put their party above being an American. The party is not what it use to be. Bill O'Reilly came out with a new book CULTURE WARRIOR. What do you think of it?

Why is there a necessity to have God’s laws governing society? Wouldn’t this violate the Constitution’s First Amendment concerning separation of church and state? President Ronald Reagan said:
Without God there is not virtue because there is no prompting of the conscience... without God there is a coarsening of the society; without God democracy will not and cannot long endure... If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a Nation gone under. (Myth of Separation 249)

Abraham Lincoln also acknowledged the necessity of having laws conform to God’s will:
It is the duty of nations... to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God and to recognize the sublime truth announced in the Holy Scriptures and proven by all history, that those nations only are blessed whose God is the Lord. (Myth 259)

The late Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen noted that the Declaration of Independence is actually a declaration of dependence upon God for our rights.

First of all, our Founding Fathers believed in God. Those who were called "Deiists" did not go to church, rather they believed that individuals should have a personal relationship with the Creator, and that no Pope, priest or minister should act as a go-between for man and God.

Second, all of them believed in God. They held their beliefs as Divine Guidance in all matters including those to do with politics and government, whether they went to church or not.

They had escaped a system where the one religion, either Catholic on the continent or Anglican in England, backed up the king of each country, and was backed up the king in return.
They wanted to make sure that no one religion dominated the government in this new world.

In the thoughts of the Fathers, we have been granted free choice, the ultimate responsibility, and a book of guidance, the Bible, to which all looked and measured their choices and by which they made for posterity these enduring choices for our governanace through their hearts, minds and consciences.

Unfortunately, most Americans have been taught an editted version of history which leaves out the very heart and soul of our creation as a nation.

A practical thing which all Americans, especially
atheists and non-believers, should consider is that the Declaration of Independence says that "We are endowed by our Creator with certain inalienable rights...". If we should say our rights come from anywhere other than God, they will be usurped by men who seek power over others. We won't have a right to breath with out government permission.

I haven't read any book by O'Reilly, but people need to hear the truth about our history and the reasons for the philosophy behind our founding documents from whatever source. Either we accept what is right and choose it or we deserve to grovel in the mud, starving and suffering, because we will have lost the greatest opportunity the world has ever known for mankind to bring our ideals into reality. Having ruined our chance through ignorance once, why should we have another chance?

The Founding Fathers also spoke out adamantly against religion in the government.

I don't exactly see how believing in God makes someone moral or a good person. That is just a myth. Just as many religious people are criminals.

To enforce a narrow minded view of what is right and wrong based on one subsect of our society would be to pervert our freedom.

I'd almost agree with you , due to the fact that many countries in Europe have state-based religions, (The Church of Scotland, for example), and yet are more progressive and secular than the U.S. Also, look at countries with religious law and "federal" law co-existing, such as many countries in the Middle East. Then, compare that to countries without such, like Japan, and get a concensus, compare & contrast, the lack of school violence, crime rates, etc. to countires with strong religious affliliations. Also, would you mind defining :true liberty", as stated in your question? Is that anything like a "true Christian"?

Freedom of religion means that I HAVE THE FREEDOM JUST AS YOU DO. And I do not believe as you do and the Constitution provides you as well as me that freedom. Thomas Jefferson was very genius in using the term 'Separation of Church and State'. He saw how the church corrupted his homeland, England and wanted to avoid that for the new country they were trying to build. And to say that people that do not believe in God have no morals is wrong. People that do not believe in God very much understand how their actions today impact those around them and those to come.

I can't believe how arrogant you are.

in simple terms by way of fact it is not conventional does not mean that it is inaccurate. extremely some human beings in any u . s . a . in simple terms prefer to be dealt with and that's fantastic. the only situation is that there are a number of many countries which you're able to have the means to bypass to at present to be dealt with from cradle to grave. u.s. is the only u . s . a . that, at one time, you have been loose to prevail or fail. you purely had equivalent danger, not equivalent effects. as quickly as this u . s . a . loses its roots (may be too overdue), we can now not be something extra perfect than France, Russia, China, or Afghanistan.

of course we need some limits on freedom... that's what the courts, legislatures and president are for... making laws, and upholding them according to the constitution...

but how can you have freedom of religion, when you want to make ONE RELIGION inherent in the state? it's impossible...
