No. Not yet anyway. The US economy is 1.4 times the Chinese economy in terms of purchasing power. However if growth rates continue the Chinese economy will pass up the US economy in only 5 years! Americans will still make much more money per capita but China's huge population would push the total purchasing power of China higher than the US.
We American's are somewhat paranoid about being eclipsed by another country such as China or if the EU become more of a reality. IMO America will have really lost it's way when it's more concerned with being #1 than with spreading freedom, peace, and democracy to the world.
This is why it's so important that China become a free country at some point. I think the tighter we try to hold onto power the quicker we will loose it. If instead we focus on spearing peace, freedom, prosperity and democracy to the rest of the world I think we may remain the most techologically advance country in the world indefinately.

What a question! SUPER!
Well, the government and economics of China are strictly Chinese! That of the USA is influenced by world leaders more than that of China!
Some states, including China and the USA, play an international role and try to intervene into other regions and take resources, etc., from there! In this issue, the USA is extremely more active than China, and the interests of the USA are not distributed to the population but go to a few players, while in China, still, it is distributed more evenly!
Industry: The USA is now doing the advanced products, while China is doing the mass production. Of course this is being done now, As time proceeds Chinese are learning and eventually produce their own products!

Economy catching up but still a decade or so away.
Government controls by power and fear, but does not have the support of the majority of it's people. They would like more control of their government. As of now they have no say at all.
Industry, again catching us but still substantially behind us for now.
Militarily they have a huge standing army. We could never invade them directly. Their weakness is in logistics and support. An Army has to be able to move, eat, resupply weapons, etc..etc.. China's Navy is extremely small and their infrastructure is also vulnerable. Destroying their ability to move troops and supplies, and communicate would be relatively easy once they moved out of their own borders. I believe the biggest reason they have not made a military move to retake Taiwan is they are unable to cross the straight with enough force. Their Navy could not protect them well enough from Taiwan's military and our Fleet we keep in the area. Their Military is huge and powerful, but locked into one geographical area by their inability to move that massive amount of troops and supplies. Cutting off outside sources of oil, and food, would be relatively easy for our Navy. They do not produce enough of these on their own for every day use much less the incredible amount that would be required for a major war.Basically we would have to starve them out
PS. Just in case you do not realize it. Glen is a very hardcore anti anything American, and also NOT very intelligent. He confuses dreams with reality. Just thought I'd drop that in

China is like the Russians used to be. We can outlast them easily. Soon the Chinese workers will revolt and form unions. When they form Unions all of the businesses that are there to exploit them will move to Africa and the Chinese will lose all of the progress they have made through the years. I got that from Karl Marx (kinda). also at the end of the day they still have 2 billion mouths to feed. That is not easy. They wont be able to do that for long. I dont know what they can do about that.

They definitely have more man power and their economy is growing. However I think there's a lot of turmoil with politics and the Chinese people wanting more power with their government. Once they get over that, there's no stopping them from becoming the next superpower.

From a debt perspective, yes.
However, China has a ways to go. I wouldn't want to be around 50 years from now... should get really interesting.

They are close.... they were DECADES behind until the PREVIOUS administration gave away and let technological secrets slip into their hands. The've even recently practiced using "pulse" weaponry at disrupting satellite systems
For all of you so adverse to military action, I'd advise reading the backside of the fortune cookies to learn the language.....
