I don't think he will or should reisgn. Not sure about it affecting the elections yet. Depends on whether it dies now or more info comes out, I think. It has the potential of hurting both parties though. The republicans for obvious reasons, but if it is proved that dem operatives knew about this months ago and sat on it until the elections, it will hurt them too.

***Congrats on being the first person I've seen on here to spell Hastert correctly!

I think that it is all in how this plays out, if he repuglicans can stall the investigation until after the elections then I think it will have minimum impact. However if they find that Hastert is guilty of a cover up the yes he will either resign or be forced out and if it is before the elections it will have a tremendous impact. Me I would hope the record of the last 6 years of the repuglican party holding the majority in all three branch's of government will have the biggest impact and I hope that the democrats take over a majority in congress in order to restore checks and balance to the government.

The public understands how desperate the dummycrats are. Having negative things flood the media before the election only shows how the dummycrats have nothing to offer so need a smokescreen. I find it amusing that the dummycrats are so upset about the Foley mess when good old Willie pardoned the democratic congressman that sexually abused a teenager. The dummycdrats also saw fit to reelect that pervert twice. How can they put out that the republicans have problems and not face the facts both parties have perverts.

Of course it will. Not because the GOP is just a bunch of sick perverts - because so are the Dems.

It matters because Americans hate hypocrites. We hate hypocrites worse than anything. The only think lower than a pedophile - is a hypocrite pedophile.

That's why the Repubs (esp. Hastert are in major damage-control mode). They don't care about pedophilia any more than the Pope does. But they know that the mere perception of hypocrisy will cost them votes.

No, Hastert will not resign. But, this will affect the elections because obviously it has been well-timed,hmmm? I think the Dems are just as guilty because I am SURE they had wind of this before and chose to wait until it benefited them most. Too bad for the boys involved, huh?

No - Hastert is too arrogant to resign, and anyone who is real upset with this scandal is already leaning to voting against the Repubs.

Hastert is a loyal enough American and Republican that if he beleived resigning would help his Country or the Republican Party he would. That is the only reason. He has done hothing wrong so there is no reason he should resign.

The republicans decided his resigning would hurt the election even more than the whole fruit-bowl scandal has already.

I think it will effect elections but Hastert isn't going anywhere.

It will not have any effect on my vote.... the perverted pig Foley is gone... that still leaves ILLEGAL ALIENS and their CRIMINAL enterprise as the MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE facing America.... NO AMNESTY, NO GUEST WORKERS, JUST good old honest DEPORTATION for ILLEGAL ALIENS and their children....
