I don't think but i know for sure that China is rich and a powerful country. The dragon has started flapping its wing on the global markets. They have cheap man-power, lot of resources and the talents to make good use of it. Now a days ,you see Chinese made goods in every nook and corner of any market. The Chinese have definitely arrived in the global market and they are here to stay.

In the next 10 years China will be the NO1 trading nation in the world. In the last 10 years over 240,000 Western manufacturers have moved or started manufacturing in China.
If you look around most of the clothes/tools you buy, they are "made in China". The USA has been trying to pressure China into devaluing the yuan, but China has flatly rejected their demands, why? because eventualy Western manufacturers will be too overpriced. Thousands of jobs are lost from Western countires each year as businesses move to China for only one reason "PROFIT". If you look at the history, look at Japan, South Kores, Taiwan, all their economies are going down. As wages go up so too will China, then they will seek another poor country to start the cycle over again.
Before technology was restricted access to China now it is starting to lead the way, just hope they stay friendly to the rest of the world. They are poor in natural resources, so they need to buy most of these things in, Oil, Iron ore, Coal, LP gas etc. The head of BHP Billiton one of the biggest companies in the world supposedly said,"the next 10 to 20 years will see China dominate the worlds economy". I for one believe him.

China has the power to be a world leader. Let's just hope they do a better job than the current self professed world leader.
By the way.....I don't know how to break this to you but Mao died about 30 years ago.
You must have missed the news that night.

It won't take too long for China to become the number one power in the world...with our dollars making it happen. Why are we so dumb? Can't we understand that by pushing most of garment and small item manufacturing over to China we are making them rich? American capitalism! We will do anything for a buck no matter who it hurts.

It's not rich but it's powerful. Hopefully someday it will be rich, even though I hope someday it will be free.
