Think about it, if we hadn't gone in to Iraq to liberate them when we did it is possible that Iraq would just be a hub for terrorists today.

Today is a somber reminder of how we were attacked by Al-Qaeda, as harbored so well by the Taliban. If you've watched any of the rebroadcast coverage of that terrible day, which clearly was felt as a first volley in a war we didn't chose, you'll perhaps be struck by how quickly, just hours in, we pointed the knowing finger at Bin Laden, and at the Taliban. Bush pledged to get the perpetators. We worked to rid Afghanistan of the regime which was so critical to Al-Qaeda's successes, and reflective of it as well.
I don't want to hear divisiveness. People who defend Bush and his policies, please try and convince us why it was right to *not* continue with our intense campaign in Afghanistan, to secure its future and prevent the reemergence of the Taliban, currently resurgent? Tell us how to avoid calling the switch-over to a regime change campaign in Iraq so quickly anything but...a big mistake?
Let's be civil, please, on this day when so much horror happened 5 years ago...

I am. Were our lives so dull before, and now like the rubber neckers at an accident scene, we stop to gawk at the carnage? Maybe our interest in the matter really centers around our hatred and distrust of government? Now, there seems to be plenty of evidence of wrong doing where ever you look.
Maybe this event just brought out our latent desires to kill our enemies, to engage in a holy war. Does it remind us that we are Americans, that we are superior to everyone else?

Myself, I doubt that we are interested in this story just because we feel so badly for the victims of 9-11.

So the question is, are you sick and tired of it and just want your lives back like it was before 9-11, or do you feel like you were born again on that day and now your life has a new meaning that was missing before?

Ironically USA is one the countries that spawn human rights practices, but seems to be lagging behind in practicing them. Like having female leaders UK has a Queen and margaret thatcher, Germany now has Chancellor Merkel, Phillipines has Arroyo, Iran had Benazir Bhutto, Indonesia had Megawati, India had Indira Gandhi... the list goes on....( although Gondalezza Rice and Hillary are close but no cigar )

"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the ***** should be denied everything."

People bash the President every day of the year. The protests of the war are also continuous. Why can't these people just have today for remembering the people who senslessly died. Unknowingly, these people gave their lives for our freedom. I wish these people would have a little respect. Give it a rest for a day.

I've heard a lot of theories about 9/11 like:
Building 7 was a controlled demolition
The WTC building collapsed like a demolition because it fell into itself with nothing remaining (chairs, etc)
The steel would not be weakened by jet fuel
A missile hit the pentagon and not a plane
Flight 93 was shot down

So, where is everyone getting their info. Do you have any links I can look at? What do you think happened and why?

Anyone know why it is that the West is accused of stealing Arab oil? If we did not buy their oil, what would they have to sell? Their economies would not be flourishing like they do. Do you think that Saudi Arabia citizens would be one of the few non-taxed peoples in the world if they didn't have oil? With the new discoveries of oil in Canada and the Mexican Gulf, perhaps we should pull out of the Middle East and let them carry on. No more oil bought from them and see how long they survive. Not politically correct, but who cares? PC is going to be the downfall of the West if we don't wake up!!
