Anyone else feeling this way. I know the price of real estate almost warrants it, but they don't have skyscrapers in central park.

Except Central Park is public property and the grounds of the WTC is private property. It would be difficult to make a case for eminent domain for a memorial, because as you pointed out, the cost of real estate is astromonical.

It would not might want to do with concern of yet another attack. even as i replaced right into a baby and it first occurred i wanted them to rebuild them as they were. yet i have idea more desirable about it, and that i do not imagine it would want to be proper. the dual towers were designed contained in the early 1960's with a tube-body structural device with the help of Minoru Yamasaki. They were outfitted with the supplies, technologies and layout of that aspect period. in reality they were a significant leap ahead in skyscraper layout. the recent towers are being outfitted now, and may mirror all the advances we've made in construction layout in view that then. we've new strategies, supplies and priorities, and that progression must have some result on the project. i'm no longer honestly a huge fan of the present plan for floor 0, yet a minimum of New Yorkers are regaining some use of the positioning. I want they could a minimum of do one bypass as bold because the Vietnam memorial. i know they can't have the total website be a memorial, yet i'm no longer satisfied with the present plans.

The property should be rebuilt. The whole idea behind building the WTC in the first place was to provide a form of rent control, that is why it was owned and opperated by the Transit authority. So without it the rents would go back up, even though they are high anyway, they would be higher. A memorial is needed, no doubt about it, but the building space is needed as well.

From what I understand, they are going to have different levels with a memorial garden & monument with all the names of the deceased from 9/11, water fountains, reflection garden, etc. on the lower level or main level. Then offices, shops, etc on other levels. It looks tall but open from the drawings I've seen. It looks like it will be real nice at night with the lights showing upward where the towers were. I hope they do it right. It's bad enough that it's 5 yrs. later & it's still a big hole. I saw them discussing the plans on Today this am. There may still be other plans being discussed but this is what I saw.

I see a park .
In the center a circular Memorial , listing all the names..
walkways coming to the center , lined with rose bushs and park benches.
Green grass and maybe a few fountains.
A display of life , simple and comforting .

A memorial area will be included in any new structure built there.
