This is a legitimate news report. Do not get mad at me. I am only asking about the news I have just read from my own internet service. Don't kill the messenger! It was reported in the main stream media. It also said that C. Rice wants a cease fire. Do you see that this is deteriorating into insanity?

Correct me if i'm wrong, but Truckers (whom i have the utmost respect for, by the way--love ya uncle kenny) can only drive 10 hours straight before having to stop for sleep. Why then can Paramedics and EMTs work 24, sometimes as much as 48 hours in a row, oftentimes with no sleep, and no one bats an eye? i know i wouldn't feel comfortable having my husband show up at my doorstep to work on me at the end of one of his marathon shifts if i needed serious help. does no one care, or are they just that understaffed that they have to look the other way? he worked 36 hours straight yesterday, called to tell me he might have to stay for another 12, (but luckily, they found someone to come in and cover the last half of the shift last night) then turned around and went back in for another 24 this morning. had they not found someone, he would have been at work 72 hours. and it was the supervisor that was letting him work, or should i say asking him... shouldn't someone do something?

never leave." Many Americans would like to leave, but there is no exit strategy. Is realizing that a situation is hopeless and cutting your losses the same as cutting and running? I think the phrase has outlived its usefulness.

Ok, I wrote my father for the first time. I have never met him but I am sure he got my letter. He is in prison and has been there since i was born. Ok, I was just wondering....

If he sent me a return letter on, lets say, August 1st, how long would it take for me to get it? When

Other details: The prison and my address are in the same state, so its almost, kinda local.

World/The blood-dimmed tide is loosed." William Butler Yeats. In Iraq the center does not seem to be holding. At some point our present situation has to e reassessed. We have a president who has gone from being resolute to just plain stubborn and obdurate on the subject of Iraq. Is President Bush more concerned with his own place and history and legacy than he is with the unyielding reality of what is happening? Iraqi's are protesting in the streets yelling "Death to America and Israel." Is it time to stop the madness and get out, or at least redeploy to the Kurdish area in the North?

I keep hearing the strangest arguments regarding the war in Lebanon. Here's how I see it - tell me what is wrong here?

Hezbollah were killing people every chance they got.
Hezbollah were amassing missiles and weapons.
Lebanon never stopped or hindered them
Israel had two choices:
Endure the occasional missile and murder without retaliation.
War.

OK, strange question from an american who grew up during the cold war. We were told communism was really bad and taught to hate and fear it. Alot of our money was spent and alot of american lives lost fighting the spread of it. But I have been living in China for the last year and now I don't get it. These people live the same lives we do, have the same dreams and the same problems. You can say they have no human rights, but they seem to do whatever they to. In fact, they are getting more rights everyday, and we in the usa seem to be getting less. Their government controls information they get and tells them lies? How about ours? We vote for representation in government and they don't? Do you really think your vote counts when the electoral college actually decides this? They have families, cars, homes, electric bills, they go to clubs and eat at restaurants, pay taxes, invest in their future. They get married, divorced, have lovers etc. Is it about religous freedom?Where is ours now?
