Most Republicans cannot realize that the Bush administration has increased the size of the government and also has very statist views. In other word, the Bush admin is not "conservative" in the text book sense.

There are also different types of Liberals. I'm of the blue collar type - I value workers' rights, keeping jobs in the US, and buying local products. I am conservative on some issues and value Catholic Social Teaching which promotes Social Justice.

Because you don't realize the hypocrisy of your own ideology. Look, liberals believe in maximum freedom for citizens and individual rights, correct? Then why is it that every time a problem arises, be it economical, social, foreign, or political, the liberals look to the government to fix it? See, every time you hand a problem to the government and say "Here, fix this" you're giving away a tiny piece of your freedom. You're basically giving the government a little bit more authority to exercise its will over the private citizen. Keep doing that and after a while the government will start telling YOU what the problems are, what they're doing to fix them, and what will be required of you.

At the same time, liberals consider themselves to be the great social equalizers of our society. They believe in forced redistribution of wealth, which is hypocritical in and of itself because it restricts the private citizen's right to pursuit of happiness, but even worse, it takes away any and all incentive. Look at the welfare program. Why work if you can get money for sitting on your lazy @$$ watching Jerry Springer all day? And what about the hard workers like me who are forced to subsidize their sloth?

When you combine social equalization with a government that is charged with fixing all that ails its country, what you get is a communist state where the government controls virtually every aspect of your life and exceptional effort by individuals is not rewarded. It didn't work in Russia and it won't work here.

Liberalism has created a serious decline in moral values, family relations, quality of life. It has also lead to mass murder via abortion. What is it that liberalism has done that has been good for the USA. Not much. Liberalism is against what this country was founded upon. That is just the way I see it. The refuse to win a war, even the wars where they get the US involved.
