Not a religion, yes a culture, not a race, not a nationality.
People from Germany are German (one of the Europe Countries) so on & so forth

It is a fiction.
You only have to look at the differences between the English and the German, for example, to know that there are few similarities. It is now attempting to replace nations and national identities. Then we will all live in a wonderful word of sameness. We will all eat McDonald's, drink Coke and buy our clothes at GAP.

It's a mixture of all these things. Europe has been called the cradle of civilisation. It is very old, has a wide variety of creeds and cultures, drawn from all over the globe. What is European? Everything!

To be homogenous, a mix of all things and of nothing. However, individual European member states keep their identities, say for example the United Kingdom or any other for that matter, and actually being European doesn't mean anything at all..........

"I mean, is there a single word for what European is a category of?"
If you find the word to design what American is, so you've got the word to design European.

It means a citizen of a country which is located in Europe. No more, so far, and no less.
Citizenship, then, I would think.
